I'd like to know what happened, why was there a fight?
I wanted to know if anyone was ever arrested for it, if not why?
Who is the man who died?

I've heard my whole life different stories & i'd like to find out the truth finally.

I have heard different stories all my life.
I wanted to know what started the fight, who was the man who died, who killed him?
Did the person go to jail? If not, why?

it was not at skinny an hazels it was at the bar at the east end of the gran encore bridge. A bynog man killed him, just cut his throat. I think they were shooting pool, there may have been bad blood already I don"t know. The man that did it,got a few yrs in the pen I think. My information came from a eye witness. I think it was reliable. I worked with Edger he was an ok person.

I think the bar was called the Sport a Pack at that time, if that helps any. Go to the Natchitoches times and research it maybe. I remember it but it is cloudy.

It was over a woman. Back then you did not cross the river to find a woman.

I am not related but do know the family well.
It is said the one who did the time in jail is not the one who did the killing, he just took the blame so his son wouldn't get in trouble.

A lot of times people say that because they don't want to actually have people think they killed someone. It sounds better to be a martar or some kind of loving hero. The owner of the bar was there when it happened I do remember that. Can't remember his name though. They say the guy cut the mans throat and he blead to death there on the floor. I guess liqour and knives are a bad combo. And I heard it was over a pool game.

I was born and raised in Georgia and live here now. But I lived in Clarence and Natchitoches, La. from 1981-1985. I worked at the Natchitoches airport the entire time I was there. I also tended bar at night from time to time for Ronnie Jones at Ronnie's lounge in Clarence but couldn't stay there for long periods because Ronnie had PTSD(though that term hadn't even been thought of back then) and he could become quite volatile at times.
His brother, John was running Sportapack at the foot of Grand Ecore bridge when I first moved to Louisiana. John and I became friends and I became familiar with Ronnie's Lounge through John.
I met many folks in that 4 years including Eddie Joe Gong and his younger brother Durant along with their father, Edgar. One Saturday afternoon, Durant was getting married but I couldn't attend the wedding because I had to work at the airport. They told me they were all going to play pool at Sportapak afterwards and for me to stop by there on my way home to Clarence.
When I topped the Red River bridge and looked down, there was cop cars and a firetruck in the parking lot with lights flashing. When I got down there almost at a stop, I saw firemen with a fire hose washing blood from out of the building and out of the parking lot. There was also blood all over the front outside and west side of the building.
I kept moving but was told later, that one of the Bynog boys followed Durant's new bride into the single unisex bathroom and one of the Gong boys grabbed him by his collar and dragged him out of the bathroom backwards. The Bynog boy pulled a knife and slashed the Gong boy. They all pulled knives and HELL broke loose.
During the melee, Edgar had some type of attack, fell to the floor, crawled to the door and leaned up against the door jamb. The barmaid was behind the bar where there was a shotgun but she was frozen in terror. Edgar looked up at her and said, "Lena, help me get up! They're KILLING my boys!
The oldest Bynog man walked over, grabbed Edgar's hair, turned his head so he could look him in the eye and said to him, "You MF! You ain't NEVER getting up!" He stuck his knife in Edgar's neck underneath his ear as deep as it would go and slit his throat from ear to ear.
One of Edgar's sons chased the old man out the door and they cut each other down the front of the building and across one end. The survivors were horribly slashed up and had HUNDREDS of stitches after that fight.
My boss, Bob Cole was on the jury panel at old man Bynog's trial. Old man Bynog was aquitted due to conflicting testimony and he did not go to jail. I also seem to remember the Bynogs being from Cloutierville.
That was a LONG time ago and I've told this story MANY times to the best of my recollection.
