Why did the head of the State Police come to Winnfield today? I heard that it was to blow smoke about what all they have done and are doing ........ this is total BS! I heard that none of the local Troopers were present at this event. That isn't very encouraging! I for one have not seen an increased police presence. This is total BS and our local Troopers should be ashamed! They go out of town when a hurricane hits New Orleans but they aren't seen in this crisis here in Winnfield?

There was a day that a local resident Trooper would step up and lead by example. Rally what law enforcement that is available.

I suppose that time is in the past and public service has become a joke and that there is no community concern.

Why hasn't there been some type of public meeting or meeting of all law enforcement in the parish to discuss safety in our parish.

City Police, Sheriff's Office, Marshals, Constables, Town Marshals, Volunteers, Crime Stoppers, Troopers........

Resident Troopers used to be the Law Enforcement to look up to......... I haven't seen any evidence that our "Resident Troopers" are doing anything extra to protect their citizens!

It is very sad!

I feel let down! If they wont go the extra mile to support their own parish????? Where does that leave us?????????

I am proud of our Troopers from Troop E and Have seen more of them lately. We have some very respectable Troopers here in our little hole in the forest.Oh and by the way Damm, Doesn't our Bell 430 State Police choppers look good. By the way, we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Louisiana State Police. Before anyone speaks poorly of our Troopers you should listen to this one.

What rock did you just crawl out from under? Just because you have not seen them! Believe me they are here. They are helping with calls that usually the SO handles on their own. So if this is all you worried about, go back under your rock.

People are free to walk on the streets as long as they are not on private property. A person shouldn't be considered a "suspect" just for walking through your neighborhood.

They learned early that education and law enforcement experience will make them a better living than working in the woods. In other words, they learned it is better and easier to make a living with your head instead of your back!

Your kidding......Marshall law will be met with strong opposition, with me on the front line. The Sheriff and Chief SCREWED UP AND DISHONERED THEMSELVES. We still have Deputies and Police Officers on the job that can do their jobs. You're about to piss me off so....don't slight them.

At the Bond Commission meeting, last month , La. State Police Col. Edmonson, offered help with our crumbling law enforcement bodies. All seemed well and orderly. He was quoted in the paper, this week "If people trust you, they will listen to you. We are here to restore that trust by providing resources and manpower." All well and good.

Then, BAM! The Director of the Louisiana SHERIFF'S Association (LSA) Michael Renatza, spoke. What he said is very upsetting. His whole purpose it seems is to justify Bodies mismanagement and assure Brenda of more funds.
Renatza said, "It is common for agencies to borrow money from July to November to get them through until new tax monies come in".

Then he said, "The legislative Auditor testified at the bond commission that Brenda needed the amount she requested." (Did we hear that on the tape of the meeting? Guess I missed that). The Bond Commission grated authority to borrow $25,000, not the $250,00 she requested and was told to come back in Sept. with some budget figures.

The paper reported the sheriff's department financial woes began pre-2007. The LSA director, said "This is not a new thing and it did not occur because of the recent situation."

Renatza is quoted as saying, " The Sheriff's Association wanted Brenda to know she has the ability to borrow from the bond commission." NO! she absolutely does not have that ability. The Bond Commission does not loan money, Mr. Renatza. Oh, my, that is not all the spokesman for the Louisiana Sheriff's association said that has made me lose all confidence in the sheriff's association just like I've lost confidence in the District Attorneys Association after they put our drunken DA on their Board of directors.

“What's that sound?”

Mike Renatza works for the sheriffs and is appointed by the sheriffs. Of course they are going to back each other up, including Bodie and Brenda. They have a sweet deal where they get to use taxpayer funds to pay the dues of sheriffs and their deputies to run the sheriff's association. Its main job is to lobby for higher salaries for the sheriffs and state and federal money for the sheriffs. He is a blowhard and the facts of the WPSO finances speak for themselves.
