Blue laws, such as "no selling beer on sunday" are unconstitutional and should be repealed anyway.

If people are buying beer there on Sunday, someone is definitely doing something about it; buying beer.

From my understanding each parish or county votes there on liqour laws in or out. It is left up to that parish. You can say what works for one parish is not necessarily ok for another. I don't think it is unconstitutional, rather silly. Like here in Winn Parish the people just run to Natchitoches Parish for liqour on Sunday. Winn Parish looses out on the taxes. But that is the way it is here.

But if you go there on Sunday you can get beer they put it in black trash bags so no one can see what you have. If no One else can sell beer On Sunday's they shouldn't be able too something needs to be done about it

but one has to ask why the law even exists. Why did the people of winnfield decide to take a vote to ban liquor sales on sunday? Why not tuesday? What is it about sunday that the citizens of winn parish feel justifies the prohibotiom of the sale of liquor?

Can you seriously not see a difference in Sunday & Tuesday?? I know our world has gotten so disrespectful of anything that has to do with God, but you can't be raised in this area & not understand.

If that's the reasoning for the law, then it's unconstitutional and should be repealed. Laws cannot be made in respect to religion. You are free to practice your faith. But, you cannot subject everyone to it. Not everyone is Christian.

I can understand why. And you do to. This is a show of respect to the Lord. I am a Christian and you know enough about this parish to know it is for religious reasons. I don't agree with not selling on Sunday as I think people will do what they are going to do no matter what. But on the other hand this Parish has always had the no liquor sales on Sunday rule. If the majority feels that way then so be it. If they want to change it then it needs to be put on ballot for a vote. But I will not pick on people because of their beliefs.

I think most of the people who would vote for a ban on Sunday would vote to ban it altogether if they could. Since they can't do that, they settle on Sunday. IMO, instead of trying to stop wal-mart from selling alcohol on Sunday, we should push for other stores to have the same rights as wal-mart. This would help small stores greatly.

In El-dardo, Ark, you can buy booze until midnight. The joke about it is, after 10 pm you can't buy hi content alcohol. I wanted to buy a pint whiskey at about 10:15 one night and was refused (by law.) The man behind me put 3 cases of beer on the counter and paid for it and walked out the door. There are similar SUNDAY laws thruout the state of TX. Here in good ole Winn the city says 6 am till midnite we can buy alcohol. Monday thru Saturday. Christmas day being the only exception. The parish says 6 am till 10 pm monday thru saturday and no holidays. My personal belief is sell it 6 days a week 6 am till midnite parish wide. Sunday being the only exception. I respect your beliefs if you choose to worship. I won't get into the argument of driving to natchitoches, alex, etc....

My argument is this: The place(s) that sell booze ileaglly should be shut down.

Just some thoughts from a 50 yr old man.

Why not just buy on Friday or Saturday enough to last the weekend?

Personally I do not and will not go into that store. It looks like a crack store to me. If you know they are doing this and you object report it and stop going there.

I guess I'm a bit out of touch on this. I'm not a drinker, though I come from a long, proud line of them ;-) I never go to "weenie mar"t and I COULD see wal-mart getting away with things other stores can't. I was wondering how this store gets away with it. Then I read post #19 from One Man Show.
