I totally feel that EVERYONE is quick to judge all but ourselves. I personally know a welder who beats his girlfriend, is a drug abuser & alcoholic, but he's a good welder. My hairdresser is not faithful to her husband, but she is a very good hairdresser. My doctor has been married several times & has a "less than perfect" personal image. Jamey has alot of law enforcement experience & very professional at his job. When we have the Chief of Police being indicted, a Parish jailer arrested for malfeasance in office, & a very corrupt Sheriff. I think we should focus on how well they perform at their JOBS--not their PERSONAL lives. I just heard today that Paul Alsup's is retiring. What is going to happen to law enforcement in our Parish, or the City of Winnfield?? Does anyone care about this...or just who's sleeping with who? We need to look at the whole picture & what impact these changes are going to have on our communities as a whole. Who JM is dating or how many times he has been married has no impact on whether he can perform his professional responsibilities. I personally feel safer with an officer on duty that has 20+ years experience than have brand new officers that refer to law books or call someone to ask what they should do. Are they gonna call someone to see how to respond when your house is being broken into, or you're being attacked?? Our law enforcement is going down the drain & all we are doing is talking about who's sleeping with who? We need to be concerned about professional ethics not just personal ethics!
I think the citizens of Winn are definitely keeping their eyes on our very corrupt sheriff. I think he has bit off more than he can chew and his world is crumbling around him. Don't know who he will have in the office when Mr. Alsup leaves to take care of business. Brenda and Mr. Little both showed how they can handle a public office while in the assessor's office..he kept up with public funds in a personal diary and she kept up with vacation time on a personal desk calendar while taxpayers paid her many, many days off. And even only kept up with days off when she was there.

I think before it crumbles anymore than it already has-'someone' should initiate a petition to remove him from office. We as taxpayers need to FIX THIS NOW before it gets worse than it already is, otherwise, who is gonna respond when we need help & call 911???

Ever notice when a politician- any politician- gets in financial trouble that it is VITAL services they mention first to cut?
That is a scare tactic! Remember Bodie said, if tax don't pass-gonna lay off 1/2 the people. Has that happened? Then he has mentioned he is "looking" at the 911 system. He is just trying to make us think that system is in danger of being cut out, but after that statement, he said "I'm not saying we ARE going to throw them out" , but he thinks someone needs to come to his aid!! My. oh, my, why didn't he think of the 911 system before he spent all the money on luxuries? Why didn't he think of what he was elected to do ...protect and serve the citizens of Winn Parish.

I my opinion he wants to get his hands on the money that the 911 system has accrued and diligently watched over for many years.
Only my opinion.

I think you people are out of control and going too far to criticize in the safety of the vacuum of topix world. I have found the sheriff to be willing to listen and talk about just about anything. Have you talked to him about your concerns or just logged on to anonymously bash him. Just be careful to not get too carried away...you are starting to sound like a mob.

You are probably right!

Page 1 Winn Paper Nov.4, 2009 "WPSO makes cuts, seeks revenue"

Bodie quote, "We have cut everything we can cut in our budget."

"My GOAL is to try to come up with a half million dollar increase in revenue OR a decrease in SERVICES , slalries and employmees."

In the first sentence he said "we" have cut EVERYTHING we can cut!

Sounds final, doesn't it? No more cuts, down to the bare bones!
Well, that must not be true for in the next sentence he says .... well, you see what he said after that.....

But he has a goal of getting 1/2 million dollar increase.(per year?, per month?, per a one-time influx?) Who knows what he means? Sure is a lot less than the over $2 million he wanted in new taxes.

1. YOU people are out of control? How is that ?
2. criticize in safety of topic? And where did you post?
3. Sheriff willing to talk? Remember had to request public records that he didn't want to release, NO he is not willing to talk
4. bash him? Is telling the truth and pointing out his misdeeds called "bashing"? Or could it be considered that a sleeping giant has been awakened in Winn and we are paying more attention to the use of our tax dollars and striving for better government?
5. anonymously, you tell us? How did you sign your post??????

I don't think Sherrif Bodie is a bad person. I think that anybody that has a position of Power in Winn Parish is put up under a Microscope of Society and is scrutinized for every little thing he has ever done or will ever do. Bodie stepped on a lot of toes while in the assessors office and pissed some big important people off and they have been making his life a living hell since he has been elected sherrif. As far as him doing a good job as sherrif, I think he has done a great job. Evidently he had enough support to get elected, so let him do his job.

Maybe Paul Alsup is retiring so that he can have time to get a campaign ready for next election. It's less than two years until the 2011 election and even less until the campaigns start.

Some people call good evil and evil good. A good person would not lie. He didn't have to accept the highest salary allowed. Doing a good job? Spending all our money on fine vehicles ... on and on, you know how he has spent, spent! Not a great job in my estimation. No one is stopping him from doing his job, we are just feeling a need to monitor how he spends, spends. And now how he will operate and pay back all the borrowed money.
No, not everybody in "power" as you call it,is scrutinized .We have some very good elected officials that you never hear anything bad about.

Jamey's only problem is his mouth. Other than that, he's a good cop. He just can't seem to keep his mouth shut. As far as his personal life, that's no ones business but his.

"position of Power in Winn Parish" The word power is scary ,The rulers of China , North Korea , Iran and others do have complete power.
In past America elected officials, parish or otherwise were elected as servants of the people.Has this changed? Are we now supposed to be verbally submissive to misdirected political whims to the point of fear.
I hope it has not reached this point!

Heard the same day that I heard he was retiring that he plans to run for Sheriff. I think he would make an excellent choice & will have my vote. He has seen the department at its highs and lows with Dan Page, Wiley Warren, Buddy Jordan, & now Bodie.

Jamey is very opinionated and verbal which tends to piss people off. But, I'd rather have him responding to my call for help than alot of the other newer deputies.

That this town doesn't think something wrong in an officer's personal life is a problem, does not surprise me. However, any GOOD officer KNOWS that his personal life should be ABOVE REPROACH as well as his professional one. For the clown 2 or 3 posts up to say that his personal life is his own business just shows the mentality of small town policing and politics. A police officers life is described as "living in a fishbowl" and even though the public may not see something wrong in it, the officer and his peers should and DO if they have attended ANY academy.

Let's talk about the truth of why he is retiring.
He is going because Cranford Jordan filed a complaint with the ethics board down in Baton Rouge because Paul was the Chief Deputy and his son was working as a Patrol Deputy.
The board stated that Paul could not supervise his son without violating the law. So Paul, being the man that he is, and having been qualified (years wise) for retirement long ago, decided to not force his son to have to find another job and he retired.
That's it, nothing more. No fight between him and the sheriff as much as Cranford Jordan would have loved for that to have happened. Just a man doing what is best for him and his family because of something that was done by a hateful, jealous, spoiled baby grown man, A-hole, loser that has always hurt Winnfield and Winn Parish more than he has ever helped it! And that is a fact and those of us that have been here long enough to remember all the things he has done know it is!
Thanks

Thank you for clearing this up and telling the truth. It's nice to hear the truth on here for once instead of the "we hate the sheriff no matter what the cost" lies!

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Libra

If you're invited to a party or gathering today and you don't know whether to go, you should. You'll have a terrific time and you might meet someone who always makes your knees go weak. Even if it's a perfectly harmless flirtation and you're both happily committed to other people, it will still do your ego good to have a tantalizing conversation with this person.
