i haven't read a single comment on here saying that this boy should be dead because he is black! this is not a matter of race this is a matter of the ignorance in this world and the fact that apparently some people will never get past the color of skin. so until you can realize that this is 2008 and there is more to people than their skin color then maybe you should keep you're stupid back woods opinion to yourself

Don't worry,I know what constitutes criminal activity. High on that list is running from the police. Its never a safe proposition.

At least we understand the concept of grammer and sentence stucture in order to help further the presentation of our concepts. The same can not be said for many of the patrons that have posted from LA. I bet some of those that posted can't even figure out what they wrote themselves.

Hey here's an idea, let's just tase them and put them out of their misery.

I agree, if he was already in handcuffs. Why did they continue to tase him. Usually if you have a warrant (or serving one), you go to the person's home first. You don't get out of your patrol car and start chasing someone down the road (into a field). Did he actually die at the emergency room? Did he die while under watch of WPD? Where are the the tasers??? They will tell the true story on how and why they were used. A lot of questions, but not answers. That's typical for a town like Winnfield! I see it hasn't changed.
Handcuffs don't automatically mean the end to resistance.

Tasers are still the safest tool to pacify people resisting arrest because the alternative would be a clubbing or being shot.

Have any proof Pumpernickel that whites have less access to guns or check cashing stores or alcohol? Just because something is easy to get doesn't mean you have no choice but to get it. Just more of the same ol blame game out of you blacks. You will never understand the concept of personal responsibility.

I did not know Mixed martial arts skills was a requirement to be a police officer. Would you like to wrestle someone with a gun on your side and stand a chance of being disarmed? Brilliant idea.

OK, so maybe you have made a case for him being SHOT or TASED...But tasers are still being used by too many out of control police officers in events that simply are not warranted!...The solution to lower crime is to allow an ARMED CITIZENRY...Forget the police as they are in on the whole cocaine/crack epidemic with their SELECTIVE busts..They ALLOW the dealers who pay off to stay in business......
I doubt an armed citizenry would affect drug dealers. What are you gonna do? Show up at the drug dealer's street corner and shot him? That's basically first degree murder. Then the cops would be after you.

This was not a traffic stop. The suspect lead the police on a high speed chase and resisted arrest.
I stated before that I wasn't commenting about this incident, but tasers in general. I'm lazy too and don't read previous posts.

If there were money in police work then I could afford nicer stuff. If cops that I know are selective at all, it is to focus on busting crack/cocaine dealers. They are the driving force of most ghetto problems and in the cops view, if they could be stopped, their lives would be easier. Unfortunately, for every one they bust, another jumps in to take his place.

Some of you apathetic people better hope that one day someone you know doesn't get tased because they didn't respond fast enough during a traffic stop and die. When that happens I doubt you'll be saying that the police officer had that right and that well they didn't respond fast enough, they deserved to die.
I would agree an officer has no right to taser someone during a traffic stop for not responding fast enough. But this is not like that. This guy wasn't running because his left his chemistry book at the library or he was late for his boy scout meeting. He was committed to escape. Fight or flight.

AND I DID NOT GET TASED
IMAGINE THAT
TIM IS A BRILLIANT SMART MAN

I doubt that many cops try to do things beyond their rightful duties. Complaints are taken seriously nowadays, and cops are investigated as regularly as criminals. You only hear about the investigations that end with a cop conviciton. The rest of the cops endure endless evaluations and questioning when they have done nothing wrong.

Cops nowadays are also very aware of the fact that there are cameras everywhere. Parking lots, buildings, and their cars are often set up with cameras.

I'm sure that a lot of people would like to blame the police for all the problems in society. Unfortunately, more often than not, it is the community itself that is the problem and the cops just happen to be there every time the sh!t hits the fan.

Maybe you missed the elementary school explanation of CAPITALISM. You see, if people buy stuff, then people who want to sell that stuff....well, they'll sell it. And they will compete for the customers who want to buy stuff.

If everyone in my neighborhood REALLY liked kebabs and ate them daily, then there would be kebab stands on every corner. The sellers did not choose their favorite product, they just were aware of the demands. If one chose to sell pretzels, and no one liked pretzels, then he would go out of business.

Make sense?

So in reality, the ghetto community needs to take responsibility by NOT BUYING at those stores.

I am a cop and I have received several taser hits. I am not a "punkass'd 21 year old cop". I am in fact 40 and am employed as a chief of police. There are many cops who have received more hits that I have and there is yet one to die. The common feeling that a cop doesn't know what he is doing to someone when he deploys a taser is false. I do not know of one department that doesn't require officers to receive a taser hit during their training in order to be certified to carry a taser.
Let me guess Namvet you sent 10 years in special forces? You won three silver stars? So many people are claiming fraudulent Vietnam service now that the country is more patriotic & accepting of Vietnam vets.

I think you're right, and I think that some people are so anti police that they will view just about ANY shooting or tazing as unwarranted. They will say anything to try to expalin away the bad behavior of criminals. This discussion is no longer about the particular case, it's moved to a more vague realm of bad logic. I am glad I don't live in the ghetto.
