I heard it was from the last drug bust they had and JR told the DEA they didn't have any juristiction to come into his town. They said he was handcuffed and sat on the curb at the time. I wonder if the city will force him out of office? This sure doesn't look good on our little town. Corrupt politicians in both the City and Parish.

If he is convicted he can be removed from office or people could go ahead and file a recall petition aginast him now. Of course you have to get people to sign the petition and their names would be made public once it is filed as it is a public document.

You had an honest Chief of Police before him but that is not what you people in Winnfield wanted. You elected him and threw out a good man and now your not happy with your drug dealer police chief. You are getting exactly what you deserve, live with it and quit your crying and whining!

Winnfield Police Chief Johnnie Ray Carpenter was indicted on Wednesday by a federal grand jury on a charge of obstructing a U.S. marshal as the marshal attempted to serve a federal arrest warrant.

The indictment alleges that Carpenter, 56, "willfully obstructed, resisted and opposed" a marshal from serving an arrest warrant on Aug. 27 as the U.S. Marshal Service's Fugitive Task Force, the FBI Violent Gang Task Force and the Winn Parish Sheriff's Office attempted to serve a warrant.

If convicted, Carpenter faces a maximum potential of one year in prison, a $100,000 fine, or both.

Funny how most of that applies to the office of sheriff as well. Must be something in the water over here. Out with the good, in with the bad.

The problem we had with the last Chief is not that he wasn't a good guy, but that he aligned himself with Terry Reeves. Only so much of that the people were willing to take. Now, I am sure he is happier in Natchitoches and it has probably saved his marriage getting out of Law Enforcement.
As far as being a good administrator, well, he's not still here, so that says something, doesn't it?
