And that is set by state law, so there is nothing we can do locally to change his salary? It would have to be taken up at the state level?

Bodie's MAXIMUM salary is the same as Caddo's and Bossier's. As per the earlier post, state law sets the maximum, not the exact salary. Bodie can choose to take less. He should, but don't hold your breath for him to do so. I don't believe Bodie would ever consider such heresy.

Oh, please dont' quit voting, information is being revealed on this forum and more people are seeing the truth and will make decisions based on truth. The people of Winn are not stupid, we have just not had access to information before now when so many citizens are gleaning truth from legal documents and presenting them on this forum. You will have more people on your side next voting time, I beleive. We are trying to get better people in office. We have to keep our eyes and ears open to what is going on in public offices.

State, I fully agree with your post. It brings to mind, though, we have often had good people in place (Mr. Jordan), yet we reach for greener grass. Hopefully, people will learn from their mistakes and not blindly follow the person who shouts loudest or fire in a crowded theater when there really ain't a fire. That happened around here in the last election.

Well, I for one, didn't know Bodie before the election like I know him now since all the information from public documents have been shared on this forum. I think a lot who voted for Bodie didn't know about the malfeasance and felony charges and lawasuits for not paying his just debts, nor did we know he was leaving the assessors office without money and owed telephone bills and more unpaid obligations and didn't know he kept records of public money in his personal diary that got stolen, thereby getting reimbursed near $10,000 he couldn't document. This all came out on this forum after he was elected sheriff!! If this had been known before the election, I think the voting results would have been different. Here's hoping we know more about candidates before elections, next time.

Well much of it was put in the local paper by his opponents but his supporters dismissed it all as lies, and enough people either didn't want to believe the truth, or it didn't matter.

If Jordan were the sheriff today with the world of topix on his a$$ nobody would be singing his praises believe me! I don't know if we have anyone in law enforcement in this parish that is honest enough to make a good sheriff. I can only think of one but he is not yet retired from his state job and I don't think he would consider running till after he retires. We need a church going, native of Winn Parish that is raising his family here and has NO TIES to any special interest groups on politicians or ex-politicians in this parish.

Well, his supporters might dismiss all as lies, but it was quotes from Bodie in the paper that I gained lots of information. Detected Bodie couldn't get his story straight from one article to another or even in the same article. So supporters can dismiss the news articles as lies...they certainly had Bodies quotes. But, all this was after he was elected that I began to notice. He won by only 10-11 votes, but we have him and know we need to keep an eye on how the office is rus and how our money is spent, Saw lots of waste before he spent it all.Understand how he is now out of money! He has a problem of his own making now.

Most of the people do want the kind of person you describe, and they are so hard to find. Mr. Jordan's public records realeased by the state auditors were clean. That's appreciated!!

He sets his salary up to a maximum, he could take less. DUH

You are reading it correctly. Sheriff Jordan took a salary more in line with what Winn could afford to pay and what sheriffs in parishes of similar size with similar budgets made. Plus he had been there over 25 years I believe as a deputy and then as sheriff.
Bodie Little set his salary at the maximum allowed by law on day one.
