WHY IS THE PEOPLE OF OUR PARISH SO HELL BENT ON TRYING TO HOLD BACK ONE YOUNG STRONG BLACK WOMAN FROM BRINGING MORE BUSINESS AND A FEW MORE JOBS TO OUR COMMUNITY? WE HAVE ELECTED OFFICIALS TAKING THE LAW INTO THEIR OWN HANDS,AND THERE WILL BE REPRECUSSIOUNS,HOPE THEY HAVE DONE THEIR HOMEWORK.

Some people need to understand that wealth is not based on one color....Many people of different colors are wealthy...If Oprah Winfrey wanted to open up "J-Rays" will the same people walk around slandering this business that they know merely nothing about.Will they even have a petition going around because they do not want the business to open? Or even vote against Oprah getting her liquor license... Oprah is rich...And so is Joshlan... These 2 women are making changes in the world...Stop trying to put a stop to employment when jobs are scarce...So many people are asking about this business...Well if it's a stripper joint how many people have actually been inside to see this place...Obama states a "Change has come to America!!" So

And some people need to understand that everything in life is not based on race. I'm sure this petition would be circulating regardless of her skin color. These people simply do not want a bar in their community. And they have every right to speak out about the type of business they want to open in their neighborhood.I'm sure no one would have started a petition or voiced any disagreement whatsoever if it was a daycare center or a home health agency. Realize why this particular type of business is opposed and stop trying to turn it into a racial issue.

Yes, It is a racial issue because it already a bar in da community. Its located on HWY 84 in dat green building for da white. If was to become a strip bar make sure u bring your 20's b/c I will be performing. I MEAN DAT. So tell your or whoever don't forget to stop at the ATM.

Where is this petition? I would like to sign it if its against a strip club trying to open here. That will make our highways that much more dangerous as people from far off would drive to and from. Surely our PJ will not be in favor of this.

What about the bar on the Natchitoches highway? Where is the petition to have that one closed as well? If it's "right" to deny Joshlan the right to sell alcohol then I think it's only "right" to deny others the same thing. Otherwise, it does appear to be a racial issue and not a social issue.

Just out of curiosity, how many signatures do they have and how many do you need? I live in the zone where this new bar will be and no one has approached anyone on our road about this petition. But then again, my neighbors and I are much too busy worrying about the economy and where things are going. We simply don't have the energy to worry about the business of others.

It isn't holding a strong black woman back, it is the type of business it is. If those people don't want it around thier homes ( and the key word is homes ) then it shouldn't be put there. It may be a suprise to most of you ,but not everyone wants a bar near thier homes and families.......

How stupid are you people? It is not a bar. It is a restaurant that sells alcohol, just like El Patio. From what I understand, I have talked with other people who have been on the inside of the building and there is no dance floor, pool tables, stripper poles, or anything like that. It is described as a very classy place. Something like a Chilli's, only alot more classy. You people who are signing this petition need to take the time and speak with Joshlyn before you start drawing conclusions about what type of business it really is and ask to see the inside of the building. Then see how you feel about it then. Winn Parish needs more businesses and jobs.

It is not a racial thing. It is a church thing. Back when they were trying to pass the ordinace to allow alcohol sales, they had the same thing going on. The people putting out the petition were the sames ones driving to Natchitoches Parish to get alcohol. The bar on 84 has been around from day one. It doesn't matter what color you are, the so called upstanding people will always fight any alcohol selling. I you remember, they just tried to extend the selling hours not long ago. All the preachers lined up against it, black and white. I maybe wrong but I thought she was opening something like a sports bar and resturant. People in the town to wake up and experince the outside world. These type of establishments are common in larger areas. She could easily go to another town to start this business, but she chose her hometown. These front row Baptist new to look in the mirror before cutting this business down. I just wonder how many of the people in this town go aganist thier religion when they drink a beer at home or at a resturant? What a double standard. Oh, by the way, I am white and college educated.

You call people stupid and then compare that sports bar to chili's or elpatio and then call it a lot more classy. As far as more business. We don't need that kind.

[Heres My Point]

The Wildlife Tavern does not serve alcohol after 10 pm. That is the cut off for ALL of Winn Parish. However, you can go to the Ceasar's Palace and order drinks as long as they are open. Stroll's always stays open as late as they want to. Maybe that's why these people don't want a bar in their neck of the woods. What's good for one should be good for another. Just seems that SOME folks think they can do whatever they want to do!

I use to work for the city officials in winnfield when winn was dry.We all were in on bootlegging and we all got a peice of the pie. If you were a bootlegger and didnt buy from j. Roscoe we would shut you down. Now all of us were in church every sunday and were outstanding citizens. We just didn't air our laundry. Dont tell me this isn't a racial issue. Avery small minority doesnt want to see a black woman make it. And I do remember our very finest visiting the red light district in the quarters so they can turn prejedice on and off like a water spout. You christians are something else.
