As I've said before , people have the freedom to unionize. Employers have the freedom to use or not use union workers.(f someone works for an employer that don't want unions, then the employees can realistically expect to be fired if they unionize. but it is freedom of choice.
You sound like a real "company" girl...!

You are wrong! I, nor you, nor employee of WalMart, or union member has hired a single military person! Oh, but our money has been confiscated through taxes to fund wars which have all been illegal since the last constitutionally declared war in 1941.
Our government has violated the Constitution in sending our fine boys/girls to foreign shores in every conflict we've been engaged in since WW2. "A more perfect union" is NOT formed by disobeying the Constitution as our government is doing repeatedly.

I'll ask you a few questions: 1. when was the last time YOU hired military personnel? When was the last time YOU organized a union?
Of course you don't need to answer. I can answer those questions.
YOU haven't. Guess that makes you anti military and anti union, using your flawed logic.

I went to work with Louisiana Department of Corrections after retiring from the U.S. Army. I assisted in expanding the Corrections Labor Union at LSP Angola and was shop steward for several years before I retired again. What else sweetie?

you know, I have no problem with wal-mart or anyone else hiring people to work a few hours a week. what i do have a problem with is making them show up 5 or 6 days to get 20 hrs. Hell let them work 2 12 hr shifts an then they will not be having to burning gas an wasting the time getting there 4or 5 times a week. Some of these people would find another part time job to pay their own way. Also we the working tax payers are supplementing these employees pay an don't even realize it. If a person works at wal-mart, mc-donalds, burgerking, freds, or amywhere else an only makes say $15,000 a year,an has 3 kids, the IRS will give them $6000 to $10,000 dollars when they file their taxes. where does this money come from, I think from people who work their behinds off all year an actually pay in to the IRS. figure it out folks. Maybe we need to let wal-mart pay a little better wage, charge us a little more. an stop a lot of their employees from gigging the taxpayers of this great country.

Our government is broken! Regulations and requirements are the reason behind companies having to hire part time workers in the first place so they can get around HAVING to pay for the health care government dictates and furnish other benefits as they would have to do for full time employees. Companies would rather have steady full time workers , but can't afford it anymore.
Our government is broken. Why should telephone subscribers pay extra so some people can have free phones?

Our government is broken. If the companies you mentioned paid higher wages and cause the cost of goods and services they provide to go up for everyone, is it likely we will see our taxes go down?
My guess is "NO"! Then all consumers will be stuck with the high taxes we now pay for the 'rebate' or whatever it is called to low income earners as well as higher prices for all. We end up the greater losers with the same high taxes and greater consumer costs.
The plan you suggest for businesses to pay higher wages to put some above the threshold of receiving IRS cash will only cause those people to have to pay more for necessities and may put them in a bracket to pay taxes, thereby leaving them poorer, too.
Until government leaves business owners free to run their business for a profit and does away with unreasonable requirements can we hope to see again the free market prevail in our country.
Business men, not politicians need to be elected to Congress and the presidency. With the two party system, we, the people, have not much choice on who we get to vote for. It is usually the lesser of two evils, but that is still evil.

If WE THE PEOPLE donít pay for the military, who do you think does?

Your tax dollars havenít been confiscated, you owe them - nothing in life is free.

Section 8. Clause 1. The Congress shall have Power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States

No, regulations are here to stop places like Love Cannel from ever happening again. And the government sets requirements so employers donít unfairly exploit people Ė you know, like child labor laws.

ďCompanies would rather have steady full time workers , but can't afford it anymore.Ē

For the quarter ending Oct. 31, Wal-Mart reported a profit of $3.74 billion, or $1.14 a share. Are you sure they ďCANíTĒ afford it, or is there some greed involved here?

I don't owe taxes to fund unconstitutional activities. Congress, the President , nor the Justice branch legally has power that supersedes the Constitution.
Article 8, clause 11 gives as one duty of Congress the duty to declare war. Any war we engage in that is not declared by Congress is an illegal war, and a violation of our Constitution.

Regulations on businesses that make it hard to hire full time workers such as requiring employers to furnish health care insurance, set minimum wages, and other regulations that I know nothing about, has nothing to do with preventing environmental disasters. Each government department has its own set of regulations.

One dollar and fourteen cents is really not a large return on investment money. I'm sure Wal- Mart has done studies on how much of that $1.14 of investors money would be required to pay full time employees higher wages in addition to health care coverage that the government is requiring employers to furnish to full time employees. Without investors, Wal Mart would close its doors
Sure they have what looks like a big profit, but with 2,000,000 employees, to be paid every week, liability insurance, store building maintenance, utilities, taxes, paying for merchandise, and equipment, absorbing loss through theft , breakage, and spoilage, maintaining parking lots, etc. they need to make a profit to stay afloat. They are making that through taking risks, careful buying practices, and sound business management. and government regulations are making it ever harder on businesses.

People who work retail all have the same problems.. Yes we can quit, but in a small town some have no choice. We stay to barley pay the bills. Retail stores have the upper hand because they CAN replace us the very next day. That is why retail worker as a whole dont get treated well or respected. Not all people had a life where they could go to college and get those get jobs. Also who would be there to wait on the college educated people. It is us the retail workers, we deserve respect from our bosses and the customers we serve. So stop telleing us we have the freedom to quit. ARE YOU GONNA PAY OUR BILLS?
