We have plenty of roundabouts here, only we call them traffic circles. Don't fool yourself, they are a pain in the butt unless they are a huge diameter! A small radius will barely give you time to decide if you have enough time to pull out. And heven forbid if a new driver or elderly one can't decide when there is enough time! You are much better off with a 4 way stop intersection. And it takes up a lot less land!

The implantation of roundabouts seems to be a euro-envy fad. I don't see how pedestrians are safe crossing them. I see many drivers not YIELD. They just follow the previous driver & just go on through. You would see other drivers that are new or are a little timid to go in. So you end up giving them a honk, which I feel bad, but I need to cross. And yes they do take up more real estate.

Since they are dead set on installing them everywhere, they should set up traffic cameras and ticket every car that does not yield! I can't tell you how often I have to sit and wait (east side of the College Ave. bridge in Appleton) until there is a break in the traffic on College Ave. because drivers just follow the car in from of them through not bother to even take their foot off of the gas! Not to mention the morons that can't figure out which lane to be in that end up cutting off people that are using it properly!

I personally think it is one of the more stupid decisions they ever have made. Lets keep our small town as it was, we are not in Milwaukee or Green Bay thet need that, I know they will soon be seeing many more accident and hold ups especially during traffic hour. Speak up fellow Oshkosh!!!!!!!!!!

The roundabouts are not pedestrian friendly. At normal intersections,if they need to, one police officer can direct traffic or operate the lights locally. I would be very interested on how just one cop can handle a roundabout after a 4th of July fireworks show. They would need at least four with walkie-talkies.
