well, I enjoyed the car show, but I saw what could have been a child abduction and never did I see a policeman. I looked. later I was told they all had on t-shirts for the glory days, as did the firemen. this is totaly wrong! I saw a man squeeze a boys shoulder and hurt him, and pushed him and made him walk in front of him and right there on the court square. he pushed him quite a ways and then made him walk around a corner, out of my view. I went around the corner, but no one was there by the time I got there, as I couldn't move that fast. I saw a car drive off from the side. I could not get the license number, and the boy was not to be seen. only the man. I still worry about that boy, and a policeman could have gotten him and asked questions and even if it was a parent, he was treating the boy so bad, and it may well have been an abuser that has him. Please don't have the policemen in tee-shirts at the next glory days. please!! there should have been at least one uniformed one around that court square with that many people.

Did you see a police officer? In T-shirt or Uniform. If so did, did you say anything to them? So you know there were more officers available to you and the other citizens on Saturday. No matter what the officer is wearing they are available and willing to help you. To my knowledge there were no children missing or taken. The celebration went well and I look forward to more in the future.

Yeah, I didn't see anything like that and i was there from 9AM till right after noon. I saw at least 2 officers, so you are lying about the police officers not being around, I know I talked to one uniformed officer myself, Mike Gills, so don't come in here with this hate talk.

I didn't know who the cops were because they had tee-shirts on. I am from Murray. It did happen. the one guy that thinks it didn't, must think I am blind. I had a friend with me. we went and tried to get a license number. I looked around and did not see a cop. I found out later after I got home that the cops were not in uniform. that they were wearing tshirts. I do not know the cops. I do not know the town. maybe there were uniform cops. I truly did not see one.

not all were in uniform.and the ones who were .. they were scarce.and just because YOU saw 1 or 2 doesnt mean EVERYONE saw one.you need to realize that there may be time differences of you 2 being there.when 1 stands around and walks off, another person is just entering the time frame!last year it ticked me off to have to wait almost 1 hour before using the restroom and i had a young child who couldnt hold it.and ended up using the bathroom on himself!i had to go home to change him.and you are a jerk for being mean to this person from murray.you need to respect everyone!
and as for what she or he saw,i think the cops need to wise up and take care of mayfield as like the county cops need to take care of the county way better than they are!all they care about is how much money they will get on their paychecks in which they dont even deserve cause of the simple fact they dont even DO the job and are lazy cops!

Instead of complaining, you should put in a suggestion to the Mayor for next yr. Maybe there should be a stand set up (a trouble center) & have signs all over the square pointing to where it is located in case someone needs help for any reason.

If I would have seen what looked like a child in trouble, I would IMMEDIATELY called 911 while following them. You can bet there would have been more cops than you could count surrounding the area which you spoke of.

You very well could have seen the person who's child had an accident in their clothes taking them home.

I thought it was a nice day with a good turn out.
I agree that instead of complaining one should make a suggestion to the city about the restrooms (there were not enough) and the police being a bit more visable. A trouble center was a good suggestion or maybe a police manned info booth.

sharel evans, for your information there were two uniformed officers around the court square from 7am until at least 4pm! there names were officer collins and officer gills. They done a excellent job in keeping tight security and community oriented policing. GCSO had at least four deputies during that same time period. Myself and two other officers were on the street during that time period.I can assure you no on duty officer was in a regular t-shirt. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at the MPD

Yeah, those are good suggestions, you are right about the restroom, now that was something I couldn't find, where was it?

First off, the POLICE OFFICERS were NOT wearing Tshirts. They were wearing Gray Pullover shirts with the MPD logo on them along with their guns, tasers, handcuffs and everything else that goes with their uniform. NEVER will you see an ON DUTY Officer out of dress unless they are on some kind of special detail.

Plus, if you thought the child was being "abused / kidnapped" why didn't you call 911? Why didn't you yell at the person whom you thought was abusing the child? Being in a public place you would have gotten plenty of attention and someone could have assisted you. Please don't give me the "I don't want to be involved", because if you didn't "Want" to be involved you would never have posted it here.

There were only 2 port-o-potty's that I know of over by City Hall close to the petting zoo and pony rides.

Thank you Cplr. Watkins I would agree with you there were penty of officers at the court square because my husband was one of them. MPD had gray shirts with gun belts and GCSO had Navy blue polo's on with gun belts. There were also penty of Fire and EMS and Rescue Squad members around, You would have gotten help if needed, so don't be running our police down. They work harder than anybody. I'm proud to say I'm a police officers wife in Graves County.
