It was the ghosts of slaves planted in the ground about the property.

Probably a good thing it burned, bad enough we make plots of land parks to celebrate those who supported slavery, or ene build statues to those who ledthem in war. How perverse.

It's a part of Va history. We do not like it or condone it now. It happened. After the Civil War we did the same thing to the real American. The Redman.Hear before somebody wanted to find this land and destroy his life! And do not count out Hitler and the Nazis. Every race on the face of this Earth has been persecuted at one time or another.Kingdoms won and Kindgoms lost. It is the Nature of Man. Only the strong surive. They are surving on Capitol Hill tonight and all around DC!!

Here's an example of why historical preservation may be trickier than we think. The White House was built by slaves, but a man (Lincoln) issued the Emancipation Proclamation from the very same building, so do we destroy it or keep it to properly honor our past?

Shame to lose an old building either way. They don't make them like they used to.
