I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with the Winfield Police Department? They said we were speeding when three of us saw the speedometer before we saw the officer, and knew we were only going 40mph. He said we were going 60mph.

Never had a problem, my wife got a ticket and deserved it out on 79. I got pulled over on 47 and was given a warning. Why would the three of you be looking at your speedometer BEFORE you saw a cop? Since we have had our share or major accidents on 47 and 70 (three deathes recently), I am glad to see them enforcing the speed limit. My wife knew she was wrong and we sent the payment in three days later.

I got a ticket Sunday. The officer said he clocked me running 45 in a 30 by the car wash on hwy 79. I never seen him there. I was up on hwy 47 driving past old troy school house road ( the street in between bank of lincoln county and IGA) he pulled out of there and was just following me. I got pass IGA and turned my blinker on to turn into PBT and looked in my review mirror and he turned his lights on to stop me. So i stopped there he came up to my car. The officer asked me if i was in a hurry i told him no. He then told me i was running 44 in a 30. I gave him my lin. and ins. card. I then called my hubby and asked him what the speed limit was on hwy 79 he said it was 45. when the officer came back with my ticket i asked him then where he clocked me doing 45 in a 30. He said at the car wash. I asked him why i seen him coming off the road beside IGA? And that if he had clocked me back on hwy 79 why it had taken so long to pull me over and how did he get to the road beside IGA.This is what he had to say about my question. I needed a safe place to pull you over.He then asked me if i had a problem? I said yes when i never seen him at the car wash and that i seen him on the road on 47 beside bank of lin and IGA. So here is my question how did he get from the car wash on hwy 79 to old troy school road by IGA so quickly. He would have had to be driving fast threw winfield streets to get to that point because i have 4 people in my car that seen him pull out of old troy school road off of hwy 47 and follow me from there. The ticket says i was running 44 in a 30. And i also know that when i drove past him on 47 i was running between 43 and 45 mph in a 45 speed zone.

We looked at our speed because we could tell he was getting ready to do a u-turn. We were in no hurry, we live in Winfield and know that the cops are always sitting at Convenience or on 79.

I knew the speed limit was 45 unless during school hours. It was sunday. I only called him to make sure i was right before i brought it to the officers attention. I was aware of my surroundings because he was no where near the car wash on 79 he pulled out of old troy school road on hwy 47 when he started following me. I was aware of him from the time he started following me. And the reason i call my hubby was to make him aware of being pulled over in a 45 speed zone while running 44. This is not the first time someone in my family has been pulled over by the winfield police department for a false reason.

So for your info i no way deserved a speeding ticket when i was not speeding. I had my 3 children in my car and they are the ages of 12, 14, 15 years old and are my witnesses as to how fast i was going, at the time i was pulled over and to the fact that the police officer was not at the area where he said i was running 44 in a 30 by the car wash in winfield on hwy 79.

We are in the same situation and are planning on bringing both of our kids to court with us. They witnessed everything. The officer that pulled us over had a chip on his shoulder from the very start. There was no talking to him.

Hummmm, believe the cop that had radar and caught you or believe your kids. I can imagine who the judge will believe on that one. I imagine you saw the second cop on duty pull out of the road on 47 and the other one was behind you already. I get a big lol when people are so shocked they got caught speeding...LOL.

And you don't think a cop would ever lie? My kids were in the car as the cop was lying and my daughter called the officer out on it. He was like oh well uh and didn't know what to say. All this took place one night after we tell her that she has to trust cops. We know we were not speeding. Sometimes police do get it wrong.(They have to pay for those new cars somehow)

New Cars..Winfield. They just got one after driving those other three forever. Just pay your ticket and stop acting like you never speed. You got caught, move on with your life. I doubt he didnt know what to say, he probably didnt fell like arguing with you on the side of the road.

You must be an officer or on the City Board. It's ridiculous when an officer pulls a person over for going ONE MPH over the speed limit and another for FOUR MPH over. We never see them patrolling our streets within the town, only the highways. Unfortunately they are giving our town a bad name. We'll be known as the next Foley or Curryville. AND WE WERE NOT SPEEDING!!!

I think we have a dilligent police Dept. here in Winfield. It may be small, but hey this IS a small town. I got pulled over for going too slow, and there was not a lot of traffic out on a Friday afternoon. I was talking on my cell phone, which I should not have been. The officers here are patient AND kind.

I do not see how you can say we have a good police department. Before i got pulled over, my son was harrased by one of these so called good officers. He was harresed for 2 months straight. He got pulled over 10 times never once getting a ticket. No warnings. Then i get a ticket for speeding and I WAS NOT SPEEDING. My son never done anything or said anything to the officer. I did thats why i got my ticket and thats why i didn have to pay for that ticket.
