Its great to read something like this about our young people, in stead of stealing an drug in. Gives me some faith in the future.

What, giving soldiers little pocket flags is useful or helpful in some way? Where is that on soldiers' list of things that would make their deployment easier?
This is just an empty gesture by someone with good intentions.
But I can understand why simple-minded right-wingers respond positively to it - anything to do with flags and the military makes them jizz in their pants.

The only real thing that makes the deployment easier - is the memory of what you will return home to. I had a 1 inch flag and family picture on the underside of the bunk above me. It helped me remember family and country.
Now it sits with a unit picture and serves a a memory of the unit and deployment. Yes, it only carries limited senetimental value.
