Marvelous. $116,000 to make a park for juvenile deliquent skateboarders. Nice job Mr. Wawruck to waste money in this down economy.

Hum, In my town we're we are building more tennis courts. IMHO - I understand the kids need a place to skate. However, tennis is a grat sport too that requires very little investment. Trust me you can play tennis much longer than boarding (generally speaking).

I suppose the $116,000 will come from federal stimulus money. Windsor Locks officials probably think the skateboard facility will reduce vandalism and drug use by local deadheads. Wait until the town gets the bill for increase in the town's liability insurance premium because of creation of the skateboard park.

Congratulations to the town of Windsor Locks for supporting the youth. I agree with the sentiments of the East Windsor statements listed above. Too bad our town government has failed us. Again.

Hey,
We all want kids to exercise and stay out of trouble. This will give them a legal and safe place to skate without damaging private property by skating on it or risking getting killed playing in traffic.

It sounds a little pricey at 116K though.

The park will not create any more delinquents than are already in existence. They would be there in about the same numbers whether it is a tennis court of skate park.

lets hope the kids that use this show they are responsible and they don't vandalize the park and area and don't leave trash everywhere like they do at Southwest Park.

Bad economy and this town is spending $116,00 for a skate park that will benefit few while we don't have enough money to continue supporting a police dog??? Maybe the economy isn't impacting this selectman who gave himself a 15% raise over the last three years.

Sorry my friend. You are way off base on this. First of all, this was approved last year afte much investigation on what has and has not worked in other towns.

Kids skate board all over town and it's dangerous for them as well as other. They are good kids and as a matter of fact, some adults wish to skate board as well.

Lay off Warwuck too. Believe me when I say Windsor Locks is extremely fiscally conservative. It always has been. We have the lowest mil rate around. There is much effort made to keep taxes down.....Espectall this year. So before you criticize, get your facts straight!

40 years ago the town didn't have anyplace except Pesci park for the kids to hang out and it became a place where kids could be safe for an afternoon. The skateboarders need a safe place to skate and if you go to other town, Kure Beach, NC for example. This city has one that is in use continuously w/ kids practicing for competitions and the like.

The price may seem steep now but it will be worth it in the long run.

Can't wait to see how often it gets used by skateboarders. The thing is, teens don't want to go where they are allowed to go. It's not fun for them to follow the rules.

I will never understand all of this backwards thinking. Put up a skate part and eliminate middle school sports because the town can't afford it anymore.

Wonder if they thought about using this money to help the schools instead? We all know the teachers and and coaches are overpaid for doing subpar work. Why not do something to make the school attractive for the kids and add more programs to keep the kids close to school even after school hours.
