This is exactly why so many people have left the Catholic Church. They still keep covering up even after all these years. How is this pedophile still on their payroll? Why is allowed medical benefits? This is the last time I donate anymore money to the Arch Bishop Annual Appeal. I am sure some, if not all, of that money goes to help out these pedophiles!

I would like to see the Courant uncover the list of individuals and local businesses that aided and supported this sick person.

This article was actually about (another) Catholic priest who settled for abusing a kid -- one of many who have accused him. You are making an unrelated point against a group of ministers who you don't like for political reasons, which doesn't really relate to this article, despite how much you want to argue with liberals about clergy.

My wife and I made the same decision. Not another dollar to the Diocese. We'll give to a Parish but we are not paying into the defense fund for a corrupt organization that harbors criminals.

Hey pinhead, you forgot the true pig, Ted Haggard, didn't you? That's because he was a darling of the Right.

Your selective hatred is rather stunning.

Yes, there's the payoff, but no amount of money could ever compensate for all the trauma this sick individual inflicted upon these innocent lives. Money buys comfort, but it can't buy you peace,

Catholic church, a cover up. A catholic hospital (St. Francis in the Reardon case) a cover up. Until they are pushed, until they are forced to settle, they ignore the facts and pretend that they are more important than the victims of abuse. No compassion, no respect, no nothing but complete disgrace.

Take a look in the mirror: you should be able to see a filthy, disgusting troll. And I'll bet if you had a child and that child was molested by anyone, you wouldn't care about justice - you'd just want the check, right? Pig.

You're 100% right. However, 10% of the weekly collection is shipped off to the bloated diocese, so indirectly you are giving. I have not given to the Bishops Appeal in 20 years because you know lots of it is going to help the bloated Admin. and dysfunctional like Foley. Most Priests are hard working and good, the ones in charge are the worst of the worst. 750K means nothing to people who have never worked a day in their lives.

Watch the video.... It will turn your stomach to see what an arrogant man Foley is! This man disgraces all good priests, and will surely go to hell. I stopped giving to the Archbishop's Annual Appeal when this story came out about Foley still being at St. Thomas Seminary, and I wrote a letter to the Archbishop. I received an immediate form-letter response signed by the Archbishop, explaining his responsibility to his priests, and criticizing the Courant's article. Sickening!!!!

I feel pretty betrayed here--Foley baptised my daughter, I thought highly of him until all this stuff happened.

I knew Fr. Foley casually when he was stationed at St. Timothy's in W.H. I never would have guessed something was wrong in a million years. I thought the sun rose and set on this guy and so did everyone else. Physically, I couldn't recognize him in his deposition. Must be a result of all that pure living. It horrifies me to think how many Masses he must have said with dirty hands.

Predators can be smart too you know. They often go for positions that come with an automatic assumption of respect, like clergy. This is why you shouldn't have blind respect for any person due to their occupation.
