The County could make it legal with the tax stamps... and then not print the stamps...
Oh that is what the government did in the '30s..
Get real folks, the people of the state voted to make it legal, the people have spoken. Why is it that a small number, like the commissioners, think their voice is louder than that of the voters? They were not elected to overturn the laws on the books.

Allowing medical marijuana dispensaries within our county would be a mistake in the eyes of this parent.
What kind of message does it send to our children and future generations if we are inviting a marijuana dispensary into our community just to claim a few tax dollars?
Medical or not, marijuana is not a DRUG that should be within reach of our children.

The message is clear... If you have a qualifying condition, there is a herb that is available for relief of the conditions that the affected person deals with on a daily basis.
The message is clear... the Colorado voters passed a law that allows for this treatment to be made available to those who qualify.
The message is clear... This has nothing to do with your children. It is up to you to provide guidance to your children. They will be exposed to many things as they grow into adults. It is your responsibility to nurture your child.
Your message is clear...Your reasoning is based on a personal, selfish opinion, without regard to the majority of voters in the state. This is America.. that is why our forefathers established the government that we live under today. The MAJORITY of the people have spoken. The MINORITY has to accept the outcome. I assume you are a part of the MINORITY. Just because you lost the game, doesn't give you the right to change the rules...

Yes: 915,527 (53.8%)
No: 786,983 (46.2%)
The official voting results were as above. Yes 53.8% said yes but to call 786,983 people a minority is a huge mistake. The numbers speak for themselves. A large amount of people were not in favor of the Amendment. However America was built on the freedom of choice and as Digger Allum states the majority voted yes. However that does not mean the minority cannot still express their opinion and ensure that the law is put into place correctly and in such a way that it will protect everyone invloved.
Ten years following the approval of Amendment 20, the city of Denver is reported to have 250 dispensary storefronts and 100 in the city of Boulder.
Here is another reality; 350 dispensaries in two cities alone. Does this match up with the need? Over 100 in Boulder alone; this is exactly the problem that the "minority" want to avoid. If Morgan County does not act appropriately how many will we end up with: 25, 50, 100, maybe more?
Then there's problems with applications and the doctors giving out the prescriptions. It's no secret that if you need pain medicine or other medications you really have no need for; if you search hard enough and long enough you will find a doctor that will give you the prescription. I for one believe the majority of doctors follow the rules and regulations as required, but the reality is there are those that will give a prescription to anybody if they just simply ask.
With that said how long (as it is already happening in the Boulder area) will it be before people in the Morgan County area find the "right" doctor to give them a prescription for the medical marijuana that they don't need but it's now the legal way to feed their addiction? And all of this is just the tip of the iceberg!
I for one am very happy and pleased that our elected officials are taking their time and looking at all the scenarios. This is not an issue we want to run into with blinders on. Being a cancer survivor myself I totally understand the need for medical services and medicine as required. But I also believe we must do things carefully, planned out realistically, and take all the precautions to ensure that it is not misused.
The reality is we all get a voice in how this handled, no matter how we voted in the first place. It's the great part of being an American!

Reality, have you ever heard of the term capitalism? Leave it up to the free market! If "25, 50, 100 or maybe more" dispensaries open in Morgan County and there is no demand for medicinal marijuana in the area, they will close. simple.

Niether are Demorol, Codien, and a plethera of other drugs, but they are at arms length..
My wife is a medical marijuana user, and our children and grand-children dont even know it..She is VERY private about it. Hell, half the time I dont even notice when she steps out to smoke..
Get over it..It has its place and has valuable applications in its use.
I do however feel that the officials overseeing the distribution of the medical marijuane cards need to be more selective as to whom in elegible...
