This is a subject near and dear to me. Before I retired, I was a state employee for 31 years, in several agencies.
Every time there is a financial crunch, the state talks about a pay cut or no pay raise for the average classified employee. As a state employee, I saw many employees 'suddenly' show up, only to find out they were 'owed' political favors or 'paybacks.' most were assigned plum jobs or replaced other state employees who were either transferred or whose job was terminated. The 'new' political employee was placed in a newly created job, doing the same work. Most of these plum jobs were overpaid. The state should out and fire these people and the state will have enough money to not give the legitimate state employees a pay cut. But then, of course, you would have to fire and replace the directors of most agencies. |

Hi Rick - Nice to see you. Interesting perspective. It's seems the average worker has to be pennywise so that the upper eschalon can be pound foolish.

Thanks, Marie. I just thought I would put in my 'experienced' opinion. I've seen too much money wasted paying salaries for "political patronage." The money saved could do wonders. Have a nice day. |
