That Ok It fits with this administration. Since the commander and chief of the homeland security George W. Purchased and did enough Coke to kill an elephant When he was a youngster. So selling a little weed to your buddies shouldn’t be a big deal.

Chuck Keiper unaware of past ethical lapses? how is it that everyone who gets a jop from Keiper was a past political candidate?

Chuck remembered past ethical problems when he dropped out of the state senate lottery.

Wow--compared to what they dug up on this guy when they were seriously looking, guess that city worker w/the e-mail forwarding case was lucky after all.

Though I definitely can't fault Mr Barber on his attitude re rules and them being meant to be broken. People always citing "the rules" can be very annoying

Here we go again---Political warfare. Someone gets a position or appointment and right away the jealous, those who dont like who got the position, opposite party, any number of "reasons" call the newspaper and start the ball rolling - cuzz no one can resist "good story".

Everyone comes from somewhere. Everyone including those who have held office for years have backgrounds- none are perfect and neither are those that gladly provided the dirt-I mean data- for this story.

I commend Keiper for stating that the past doesnt always dictate the future even if those "incidents" are true. Kudos for not judging someone for the growing process and not defining them by their mistakes, for rewarding change and self motivated growth and personal development.

Naysayers be damned - I like that! Mr. Barber press on and continue to make those that believe in you proud by simply doing your job the best you can. You know thats like heaping hot coals on the heads of your enemies...

As a member of the law enforcement community and a person who has gone through a thorough background investigation I find this gentleman's appointment disturbing. The normal person is scrutinized during these investigations so much that it makes it highly unlikely that without his connections he would have obtained any job in law enforcement. The county's blatant overlooking of issues that the Beacon Journal had no problem uncovering is hilarious. This instance shows how corrupt the process really is. This guy gets a position of at the top when they probably wouldn't hire someone at the bottom of the county payroll with this kind of a record. Sad.

At first, my reaction is OH NO! How could they give this guy this job?

However, think about it. What if someone who has done bad things in their past really does want to make a good life for himself? And what if he turns out to be talented and able to move up? He can't get any further than working an ordinary job because of his past? That's not right. Give someone a chance. Shows a lot of character to be able to move beyond a bad past.

HE SOUNDS LIKE ONE OF THE DIRTBAGS THAT REAL COPS ARREST EVERYDAY. THE TRUTH IS THAT HE PROBABLY HAS SOMETHING INCRIMINATING ON THESE COMMISSIONERS WHO REPEATEDLY DEFEND HIM AND PROMOTE HIM. WHAT A LOSER.

I remember Akron as if it were yesterday. It is more dangerous to walk Main Street after 10:00 PM than to be in Cleveland, Youngstown, Kent, or even Ravenna!(But, I miss Akron!) The people are nothing short of wonderful!. I miss when they "raised" a home where I used to crash at night, and my clothing was. I miss the "canal", where they built a stadium. I DO NOT MISS SLEEPING UNDER THE BRIDGE !!! BUT I DO MISS AKRON!!!... RICK
