HAINES FALLS - Visitors at the Mountain Top Historical Society open house Saturday got a chance to see the newly-completed archive room as well as several of the society’s photographs, prints and grounds.

The cement, climate-controlled archive is home to ephemera ranging from a scarf belonging to famed Peter Pan actress and one-time Onteora Park resident Maude Adams to diaries and records dating to the mid- and early 19th century, according to society member Bob Gildersleeve.

The room cost about $6,500, according to member John Curran, and is named for society founding-member Justine L. Hommel.

Ah how well I remember the RR station.
It was the "exit" point from the woods
when I took "the shortcut" from my family's
home on Mt. House Road. We used to go into
the woods in our yard and exit at the old
station which was once Scotty Myers's home
(I Believe)on our way to the Village to
hang at Elsie's, Schuman's, Carnright's or
get the mail.
What Sweet memories.
And Hi to John Curran. Is that the same
John Curran who used to live next to the Byrnes?
If so "Hi John from Pete and Matt Neeson".
Miss that place immensely.
