Allegheny Energy says it has agreed to cut a proposed rate increase by $3.2 million.

Allegheny had asked the Virginia State Corporation Commission in April to approve a $19.4 million rate hike to help the utility recover the cost of purchased power.

Allegheny's original proposal would have increased the monthly bill for a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours of power by $5.47 to $96. Under the settlement filed Friday, the increase would be reduced to $94 a month.

Allegheny says the settlement must be approved by the commission.

The Greensburg, Pa.-based utility serves about 102,000 customers in Virginia.

How do 102,000 VA residents owe them 19.4 mill.?

What other states are we helping them recover from?

If they can cut the rate by 3.2 mill, are they eating it? Or was that not the actual amount they needed to recover.

Is it because people are not paying their bills?
If so why do I have to pick up thier slack?

Im always willing to help out a fellow American but if you dont have the money CONSERVE more!
Start by unplugging everything in your home thats not in use.

Something is not right here folks. Theres not enough information first of all, no real explantion that I can find.

We all can do are part and conserve more.
