and our smart meters are listed ANSI c12.1 2001.
Print Email Save Share ANSI Standard Revised The National Electrical Manufacturers Assoc.(NEMA) has released ANSI C12.1-2001, the Code for Electricity Metering, a revision to ANSI C12.1. According to the chairman of the committee that produced the standard, the existing standard C12.1 was rewritten to "bring it up to date in an industry that is changing dramatically, due to both technology and regulatory matters." The revised standard includes additional tests to help ensure new electronic equipment is capable of providing the same level of dependability existing devices have shown. The code establishes acceptable performance criteria for new types of ac watthour meters, demand meters, demand registers, pulse devices and auxiliary devices. It also describes acceptable in-service performance levels for meters and devices used in revenue metering and includes information on recommended measurement standards, installation requirements, test methods and test schedules. www.elp.com/ index/ display/ article-display/ 125223/ articles/ utility-automation-engineering -td/ volume-6/ issue-6/ departments/ news/ ansi-standard-revised.html http://www.scribd.com/doc/73046876/NEMA-C12-1... www.smartgridinformation.info/pdf/1805_doc_2.... http://www.techstreet.com/info/nema.html IMO, these def are not safe! |

Hope to see you there. Winchester Utilities meeting 5PM Aug 13, 2012, Mon. which is tonight is on. Confirmed with the WU.
Also a REMINDER: to those who do not wish to have these dumb meters. You must 'opt out' by sending in a written notice saying so. Deadline is Aug 15. So time is short, folks, get your letters in ASAP. |
|
This is a start...the utility board voted to reduce the smart meter opt-out fee from $100 to $75.00. It is rumored there may be more revisions to the policy. Also, it has been said that there are no policies in place for those who wish to remove the dumb meters from their home. |

Isn't that like putting the cart before the horse and a bit bass ackwards? |

Thank you for the link/Jerry Day video. Very interesting. My thank you message was also deleted. Would this be due to censorship of websites? Is freedom advocates now a sensored link? Hmmm.. |

Article in the Chattanooga Times this morning. Cleveland, TN approves Smart Meter opt out for $10.00 monthly fee. Sounds reasonable to me. What is wrong with Winchester Utilities and their board?? http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2012/aug/2...
|
|
I feel there should be NO opt out fees: No one was informed nor did anyone opt IN for these smart meters asking for them. The $10 rate was suggested at the last meeting (more comparable to other states -and one time opt out at that) but they stayed at the $75 monthly opt out fee (reduced from $100.00). IMHO, being FORCED to pay high peak rates at all times and any amt of a MONTHLY opt out fee is totally wrong. Someone needs to hold this board accountable! |

Smart meters are being pushed into our homes by Nobama. If all were privy to this fact , no one would want one and would ban them straightway.
I read in the news today there were more smart meter fires. Now I am curious to know just how many fires our town/county has had, and could any of these fires be due to having a smart meter? How can one find out how many fires we've had in our area, etc. Makes me wonder - would they even know to look at the meter ?! |

You guys see the Winchester Util pdf letter on the AMI smart meter Project?
http://www.winchesterutilities.com/AMI%20Proj... Per letter:
We believe informed customers will be happier customers, and because of this we are putting every piece of information we receive from your meters, as well as the ability to control devices in your home, on the FlexServer system.
I laugh at the "informed" statement. Pay attention to all the rest it has to say...remote and EVERY piece of info" ... This door needs to be slammed shut! |

And why hasn't Bruce Spencer stepped down from this board since being elected Property Assessor???????
The Good Old Boy Network at it's finest.......... |

I don't think you should have to pay a monthly fee if you opt out of the smart meter. I don't think the electric company has the right to CONTROL your electricity use since your paying for it. If anything, you should pay a one time fee and be done with it if you want to opt out.
Duck River says it is still a couple years out before they start doing transitioning to smart meters. They say it's very expensive. |

Too bad he isn't more like his beautiful wife, Joy. Is there not a law about this? As in so many days for him to step down or something? Maybe he is planning to do so and just hasn't yet? Love Joy! not so impressed with "The Bruce" though. Yeah gotta love the dUKES OF hAZARD ... lol |
