I think that the board needs to go far away on this one and hire someone who doesn't know anyone in Franklin County.

I totally agee. Someone from the inside or anyone that has been on the inside will be one of the "good ole' boys" and we will have the same situation as always. But can our "local" board have the insight to do that? We will see. We need someone that KNOWS state laws and we need board members that KNOW state and federal laws and really understand how a school system is suppose to work for the children. We have programs in our system now that are Federaly funded through the state and they monitor that. Why not find out from the state what those evaluations say...we need a Director that knows, we need board members that know. Not political activists!

This BOE needs to take a lot of time in choosing a new director. Dr. Edmonds was probably the best qualified candidate to apply for the job at the time. The state legislature mandated Appointed County School Superintendents to get politics out of that position. In the case of Franklin County that only multiplied the problem times 8. This board has a chance to profit from the mistakes of the past. Also there is a definite need to somehow cleanup the appointment of Cronies. It is not going to be easy and it probably should take more than a year to get priorities back in place.

Hiring an outsider certainly didn't work in Dr. Edmonds' case. HE was an outsider from Huntsville, and soon brought in his crony Charlie Pike. Then he quickly made friends with the local brown-nosers and started given them all central office jobs and out-of-the-classroom jobs. Those local cronies then started lording it over the rest of us, and that's what got him into the pickle that caused his eventual resignation.

You make excellent points. I thought all the brown-nosing business started before Pike was hired.....but wasn't so obvious. Is that right?

Some say once Edmonds made/showed open friendships with staffers and the usual Tuesday nite dinners became standard events, that's when the cronies got a foot hold.

I've never been around a system when the Director openly partied with a crew of staffers because the Director was always the fellow or lady who you only met with after requesting an appt. There was a great deal of professionalism and respect shown towards the Director.

Maybe the Board should be told we only want a "married" new director who plans to relocate his/her family to this job.

Rumor has it we have a couple, three fledgling cronies coming along these days. Holy moley, that's all we need is for the flock to grow. I wouldn't want my grandchildren under their influence either in elem or HS. This cronyism needs to stop........NOW!!! Then we can return to the professionalism afforded position of Director of Schools.

I don't like, nor do I appreciate, jobs being given to friends of SB members. Those ineffective positions are costing way too much. That is as bad as the cronyism inside our system.

Your comments were on target and I hope others listen to you. Thank you.

Maybe WCDT shouldn't hire you because you aren't married. Dr. Edmonds has a right to run with who he pleases. Why aren't you married?

The only problem with Edmonds running with WHOM he pleased was that his "running mates" were given cushy jobs throughout the county, both inside and outside the classroom, and they became smug little snitches tattling on everyone else and shoving their preferential treatment in the rest of the teachers' faces. Most of the people he gave special jobs to were not qualified to fill them, and the jobs themselves had never existed before.
If I sound bitter, I am. Or at least I was. I am hoping that the new director will resolve a lot of this cronyism and treat people more fairly. It should be WHAT you know, not WHO you know in education!

Yep, you're right in everything you say.

I knew one of the "fledlings" would post against me, so that's why it took me a while to respond. He/she joined the flock and became a SNITCH a while back....this summer, I'm told. He/she thought that would secure him/her an administrative post. yeah right, like pigs can fly.

Someone on these blogs continue to type negative posts about me. Various blogger names have been researched and his/her true identity is now known.
He and others played the "lets go tattle" game for a while, but that time is past. We won't call names today, but we can in the future.

This system doesn't need educators who are that silly and can't see the BIG picture. This guy/gal only wants a free ride and that is his/her plan, as has been the plan of others. Sad. Very sad. The big PICTURE is the children and those who educate these young folks. NOT the ladder of advancement within the system.

The big picture is the children.

From what I was told, Cronyism 101 has dropped off the curriculum for FC educators and support staff in the future.

The ladies and gents in this system who are affected by these folks need to tell the cronies who give you grief to kiss your A## and go about their business. If the SB members I speak with regularily tell me the truth, then the stone walls around the cronie's protective shield are crumbling.

Holy moley, I pray that is true. We need to get rid of the old cronies and we sure as heck don't need any newbies.

Wouldn't it be great for some of the "cronies" to be taken from their gravy jobs in the attendance office and guidance office and made to actually teach?? Wait a minute, they were TERRIBLE teachers!! Wonder what they will do now? I also wonder which one (or both) of them had a "closer" relationship with Dr. Edmonds than is normal..........

I think that Tammy Grizzard would be a vantastic Director of Schools. She knows the cronies and who needs to go back into the classroom or just go. She knows the ones that would suck up to her and pat her on the back and tell her that they were behind her and that every thing was going to be okay and at the same time was cutting her down in front of Edmonds. Everyone that worked with Tammy will tell you that she was one of the best administrators that Franklin County every had. I understand that you didn't have to ask Tammy twice for information, she would work until the information was obtained. No wonder Edmonds wanted to get rid of her, apparently she uncovered some information on him. I doubt that Tammy would take the job but in my opinion she would be a good candidate or at lease a good person to fill in until a full time director is hired.

You are not a god rearing man. If you are without sin cast the first stone. God can forgive anyone. If Dr. Edmonds had done his job than this never would have happened. The situation should have been delt with as soon as it came to lite not months. This does not mean that Tammy would not be a good Director of Schools, She would be vantastic. She has the respect of so many people in the school system. She is a caring, christian person who cares about our children. She was railroaded when she would not play Dr. Edmonds games. As I said before I doubt that she would want to come back to Franklin County but if she would, she would be a good candidate for the Director job. By saying mean things about people if you are a god fearing person you will be judged.

First of all, the correct spellings are: God-fearing, then this, dealt, light, and fantastic.
Secondly, I do not consider an adulteress an example of "a fine Christian woman", I think she left the county because she couldn't stand the negative attitudes that were directed toward her, so I doubt she is "respected by many". I know I personally don't respect her. I wouldn't want her as my boss, and I certainly wouldn't want her in an authority position over children. What sort of role model would that provide? Not a good one.
Thirdly, some of the same brown-nosers who were kissing up to Edmonds were also kissing up to her. One even hid her car for her while she was having her trysts during working hours. So if she came into power, some of the same people might be able to keep their cushy out-of-the-classroom jobs and continue to brown nose and act superior and mistreat the teachers who aren't their friends.

To FCHS Teacher: Thank you for the spelling and grammer lession. Before you blog again on school time and using school computers you might want to read Franklin County Board of Education Policy 4.406 Use of the Internet. It states "Before an employee is allowed use of the district's Internet or internet access, the employee shall sign a written agreement, developed by the director /designee that sets out the terms and conditins of such use. Any employee who accesses the district's computer systetm for any purpose agrees to be bound by the terms of that agreement, even if no signed written agreement is on file. Prohibited and illegal activities:**Sending or displaying offensive messages, Harassing, insulting, defaming or attacking others, Intentional misuse of resorces etc..** Thanks for your comments I'm sure that some board members will probably be reading this blog. Have a good day.

School is on fall break stupid. Yes, board members read the blog and use false names and ID's as well. Mrs. Tammy is a slut. I call a spade a spade. Yes, she can be forgiven but she still has to pay for the sin of adultry. The truth hurts some people.

First of all, it's spelled LESSON, not lession. LOL
Secondly, I am on fall break from school all this week, you idiot.
Thirdly, I am wise enough never to use school computers to visit chatrooms and blog sites. Every time we log onto the computers at school, a pop-up states "this computer is being monitored by the Franklin County Board of Education". I am not a moron. Too bad I can't say the same for all the other people who post online here.
