Why has the prices gotten so ridiculous at Goodwill. If you are not careful you will pay more for something than brand new at Wal-Mart.

I know it's crazy , that's why every Goodwill is bursting at the seams with stuff. They don't understand if it isn't moving they are not making any money. Lower your prices, inventory will move out the door faster.

I agree and I used to donate alot there but dont anymore due to them over pricing stuff, people should band together against Goodwill and have the news do a story on it and make them lower their prices. it was intended to help people those who need jobs and those who need cloth ect. and its like your better off buying it new for the same price.

I am like you...I would donate to the Tullahoma store but now I take all my stuff to The Attic Outlet... a ministry that I know is helping the folks that need it.

There is no goodwill coming from Goodwill. They are extremely overpriced and will not budge their prices. The items are given to them yet they charge over retail on junk. If they get anything with high value they auction it on E-Bay. I know someone who donated an antique chair to them & after her husband got upset she went back to get it & they wouldn't give it back but instead tried to charge her $100. She never got the chair back but never donated anything else either.

yes I know I seen the online auction site too, its a shame how they do things and I have visited more then a few goodwill stores and they are all over priced I just find a family that can use what I have and give it them instead of giving to goodwill then people who need can't afford it, I'm sure we could start some kind of group for people to sign against them and if enough stink comes from it maybe they would have to lower prices and live up to their name "GOODWILL" they are just sorry for the way they take advantage of everyone!

I agree that they do charge a lot for things there, although, how many people do you see in blue working there when you go there on average? You have to figure in that they are paying them and providing people in the community with jobs who might struggle to be employed elsewhere.

That' sweet Mirozi, but no one is saying they should lay people off to lower their prices. The first rule of business is to move merchandise. Goodwill does not follow that policy, that's why their stores are so crowded with merchandise. You can sell 10 things for 1.00 or 1 thing for 10.00, at the end of the day you still have 10.00. They are not manufacturing their products, they get it for free. goodwill administrators need to take a business course

I agree with you Business 101, as much as people donate the jobs would stay the same maybe even better cause the stuff would be moving in and out faster. I just think its a shame how they over price stuff and act rude in most stores. I have a big bag of nice cloths now that I have been trying to give to someone who needs them(boys cloths) and they will stay in my closet til I do I won't donate to goodwill anymore.

Has any one else noticed the high prices?
I remember a wine bottle was priced at $9.99, a plastic restaurant sauces cup .49, shirts $4.29. I go to goodwill when I need a good laugh.

I see your point. I would like them to move merchandise, and lower prices too.
