Personally I think it's good school. But I know some things have changed in the last couple years. But I think they're for the better.

Not the greatest but not the worst one of our teachers is about to quit because the administrators show no support for him. Also they're spending money on a track instead of taking measures to protect students such as metal detectors which is ignorant if I must say considering the incident where we had a lockdown because some guy down the street from the school stabbed a woman and almost killed her some people may think it would be a waste of money but in my opinion with everything that's been happening lately I think it's a good idea

Let's see, safety for the students or a new track and field? Hum....
Just rediculous! The parents were not informed of the "lock down", nor was it openly discussed. How is this ok? With the kids fighting all the time and meeting up in parking lots to do so, and making videos themselves of it all. Then the school not being a safe place....geez, we need to just homeschool our kids!

I'm just guessing we should up security all over town then, since shootings can happen anywhere and not just in schools...of course parents won't be notified in a lock down situation. Do you think its more important to call each and every kids parent before they lock the school down? Or is it more sensible to lock it down if there is an opposed threat before anything else? And the schools cannot be held responsible for fights that happen in dark parking lots or off school grounds. That's more the parents faults for allowing their children to participate in such activities without any type of discipline. I personally have no issue with school lockdowns. At least I know my child is being kept in a locked school if there is a threat running around outside their doors and as a parent of a child in the hillsboro city school district, I would rather them lock it down than to call and ask my permission or discuss it first. Does schools need to up security? Yeah but then so does every other place in town if that is the case.

"down the street"?

He was in the same county, true, but several miles away down the highway.

The story was on the newspaper's website where things seem to be discussed.

In response to your post. No the school should not call each and every kids parents. However a note sent home with each student would be appropriate

Isnt the track donated money? I do not think any school funds are being used for it.
