This is ridiculous. You are screwing over people from Winchester-Woburn who could really use the commuting service of the green line. It would really help alleviate the crunch of traffic in town during rush hour with commuters cutting from 93-128..
Also green line would be faster than the infrequent commuter rail service and less costly so more people would use it.
it would be better served long term to elevate the line over the roadway in West Medford to avoid the crossing gates.- and extend it to Anderson Woburn
The Green line should continue up to Anderson-Woburn RTC from Medford, to alleviate the traffic in WOburn-Winchester, and make it easier for residents to get back and forth. Many people would leave their cars if we had faster trains - and didn't have to rely on the high priced commuter rail all the time. I would take the commuter rail sometimes but wold take the green line more. The view would be scenic as a lot of it goes above ground along the mystic lakes and through Winchester., It would be cool to have the trolleys as well or (new green line subway cars if we have them). eventually. It could go to Anderson Woburn which would connect with the I-93 exit, commuter rail, many local hotels in the area....and the Logan Express Bus and Manchester Airport shuttles.---perhaps some shuttle bus system from Cummings park and other office parks could do a loop through Woburn to Anderson to bring people to and from the RTC as well to allieviate the traffic.
Stations would be
Wedgemere,(Existing) Winchester Center (Existing), Cross St./North Winchester(to be built), Montvale (To Be Built), Olympia Ave/Cummings Park (To be built), Mishawum (to be reopened), and ending at Anderson Woburn. with commuter rail/Amtrak Connections.
The proximity to the I-93 exit would be better than a residential area for a terminus and the ample parking woudl draw people in. Future garage could be built if parking became an issue.
I think it would be worth looking into to be built in the next five-10 yrs.
But its not fair to include no bus system to get from Woburn-Winchester to the end of the line at medford, and then say we cant PARK in the neighborhood for the "T"
The "T" is a PUBLIC SERVICE, not a PRIVATE Neighborhood shuttle service.
Its not fair to the rest of us.
the long term benefit would be better served to extend it to Anderson Woburn and benefit all the people in the area.
