I have alot of concerns at the way the Detention Center is treating the inmates. You can make complaints to the DOC at this web site. http://www.justice.ky.gov/contact.htm
I know alot of the immates are asking for information so I will inform the public to please step in. The inmates are still humans and should be treated as such.

I agree. They do not deserve to be pampered, but basic hygeine supplies and health issues should be treated.

Try raising your kid and not letting them get away with murder and making excuses for them and they won't have to be in there. Maybe if it's bad enough they won't keep going back. Trust me most of them in there have been in way worse conditions by choice when strung out on drugs and you weren't worried about that.

Why are you fussing about the Jail? Jail is not suppose to be a resort vacation spot! Jail is a place for people who did wrong ... By selling/using drugs, murder, robbing/stealing from others ... Why should they get special treatment. If they wanted special treatment then they should not have done what they did to get put in there!!!

Lol the only people who are going to send a complaint to the state are the same ones who let their adult kid get in this mess to start with, now they want to cry about their hygiene mistreatment. Mama, he's whining to you about the jail just like he whined to get his way and get out of trouble SINCE 13 YEARS OLD and you did this same defending and blaming crap then. And remember - HE put himself there, not all those awful people he hung out with or the bad cops or the mean gf/wife(s)- and YOU and your weakness, denial and lies helped him get there.

Hope you enjoy your jail visits. He's all yours now nobody expects anything decent from him. That would just be too MEAN to expect and push him to get off drugs, go to school, get a job, raise his own kid, he wouldn't be HAPPY lmao. Is he happy in that cell now?? Fools.

It never ceases to amaze me how many haters there is on here. Just because someone is in jail doesn't mean they deserve to be mistreated. Now murderers and rapists and child molesters. Ok mistreat them till the cows come home. But pillheads, deadbeat dads, shoplifters etc. No. Actually they shouldn't even be in jail. All these low level offenders filling up our jails and prison. Costing us all kinds of money. They should be fined or made to work for the state then we wouldn't have to worry about who is getting mistreated because only the worst kind of offenders would be in jail. Like it should be.

How are they mistreated? Specifically how.
Fined? They're already living off the government and the only income they have is selling drugs. An addict is a future trafficker, or robber. Leave them on the street, then?
I worry about who's being mistreated. I worry about the families, the children, the store and home owners, being mistreated by the same people who are crying about being in jail. They didn't care about stealing, neglecting, assaulting, not paying for their kids when they were free. They let all those people suffer and go without food so they could buy drugs, stole from people who work hard, and who knows where the kids end up? That's mistreatment, Princess, of innocent people who become victims.
They're feeding them, they have a place to sleep, and some of them are actually getting clean for the first time in their sad lives. Why do you think it's hate to not want to campaign for people who didn't care about anyone but themself before they were locked up?

Obviously you can't read. I never said they were being mistreated. Nor do I care. I said our jails are full of low level offenders and it is ridiculous how much we spend on them being there. I also said there should be alternative punishment for low level offenders. Like rehab work programs and fines. Take your time and sound out the words I wrote then give me your opinion without being a whiny hater.

Obviously I can read.
How do they pay those fines? Who pays for the rehab programs? Take your time and think about where those funds come from.
Can you also explain what you think is whiny and hating about anything I posted? Please explain where the "hate" and "whine" is.
Do you believe that low level offenders, if given no consequences, will become higher level offenders? Conversely, do you believe that children who are never given consequences grow up to be low level offenders?
Sound those questions out and let me know if you have a fact based opinion on any if it, not just the usual "hater" humdrum.

Well the funds would come from the same place they do now until the fines for the pot smokers and drunks and shoplifters start coming in and the work programs got going.

You are a whiner because its all about poor pitiful you that is always a victim. Instead of trying to do something about it.

You are a hater because you are narrow minded and hate on people who are not.

No I don't believe that low level offenders will for sure become high level offenders. Some will but a lot wont.

I think all children should be given boundaries and consequences. That what's wrong with kids today. Parents expect everyone else to raise their children. I think children with no consequences become high level offenders. Not low.

I think people should open their eyes and see that things are going to hell in a handbasket. If we don't broadened our horizons and do some problem solving we are screwed.

So hows that for ya.

So we'll add another chunk of tax money to the penal system's chunk. This one will "rehab" people who have had no regard for themself or anyone else - and we owe them that why? They're detoxing in jail, right?

I've never been a victim, and not sure why you think you know enough to state that. I also am far from narrow minded and hate no one; and again, question your source.

So you believe that light or nonexistent sentences won't encourage further criminal activity, and that a fine received from people who aren't employed (?) is going to pay for the medical rehab for pill addicts. Where are they going to get the money for the fine? What if they don't pay it?

It sounds very simple but unfortunately it's not the fault of the penal or justice system that we're "going to hell in a handbasket". Those systems have been in place and worked for years in America before the leniency began in both them and the refusal of parents to discipline their kids.

If you know Winchester, go down the list of current inmates and their criminal records, the many chances each have been given by the court and how that leniency has escalated their criminal activity.

Look I never said I had all the answers. I just was stating my opinion and that is alternative punishment and decriminalizing some things would help our jail/prison overcrowding. Which is a problem Americans have. In Winchester and everywhere.

I never said that there wasn't repeat offenders but I'm sure there are reasons for some. Like it is harder and harder for people with ANY record to get jobs. Even low level jobs. Some are addicts who have Noone to put them in rehab or do an intervention. Some go in for a mistake and come out career criminals. Some are just nuts. I could give you scenario after scenario but it would do no good.

The penal/ judicial system is not to blame alone but every branch of our government and us as a society are. It's time for major changes or things are going to get worse.

Yes, it's not meant to be the Hilton but the conditions could be better. Such as getting rid of Banks. While I was in there he walked into the shower and tazed a kid while the water was on.. Also do inmates deserve to live in filth such as bugs etc?? No. The food is ok. There are constant fights ... If it were my choice they'd shut this shithole down!!! Bobby "ran" the place str8 into the gutter. So glad he's gone

Well I hear that they hire anybody down there. I thought you had to pass a drug test and have a high school diploma or a ged, I heard that there was one a female worker that does not have a either. So I heard anyway, I guess she was bragging about it to people that you probably should not tell. Whats up with that? Do they just hire anybody?

Yes they will hire anyone that can pass basic requirements that you would have for any job.

Can't imagine jail is fun that's why I'm gonna make a personal choice not to be there.

You raise a good point. The US has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world and Ky has one of the highest in the US. It isn't helping. The jails are no place for drug addicts and petty thieves.

Ok. Fair enough. You earmark your tax dollars to take care of them. I for one do not understand why it's the place for them if it does nothing to deter them. Crime rates are rising and communities are broke. There has to be a better way.
