SO when is Anchor supposed to start painting (tannish color) for the new owners. That will be a drastic change in the scenery of Winchester.

I am so sad to hear that they will be painting Anchor tan :( My grandpa worked there for years and retired from there. When I was a little girl, we lived 3 hours north of here. When we would come to visit our car would just top the bridge on US 27 and we would all scream "We're in Winchester! There's Grandpa's work" (We knew as soon as we saw the blue building).

So to hear of the change from blue to tan, may sound like a simple change. However to me the blue is almost a town legacy. Everyone knew when they saw the blue building, they were in Winchester :)

40 hours a week is all your required,,but you still dont have a life.
Now that the kids are back in school, you dont get to spend much time with them, and good luck keeping a good baby sitter!
Your partner better trust you, or you will fight a lot, since factories have a party house reputation,,,Anchor may pay good, but there is a big price to pay when you work there....

. Yes true 40 is all you have to work but they do ask you to work a lot of over time and to come in early and it is very hard to keep a family together with the swing shift and yes anchor pays great 18 /19 to start and 35 for a journeyman machine operator that's great money if you ask me 35 a hour is hard to come buy heck 15 a hour is getting hard to get now days

Ps I here you can work all the over time you want their from inspector to machine operators they love you to work a lot of over time you could work your self to death with over time they don't care as long as they are making money and the reason I said 35 an hour I use to know someone that work their a long time ago and he said he was making 35 a hour but I guess he was blowing smoke up my butt I know he had a lot of nice stuff tho and now he has nothing because his wife left him because he was always working over time and never home I guess she had needs to haha

Yea the work place is f+++ ING tough now a days I have seen people come in on time and work hard and hardly ever miss a day of work and never move up in a company then you get lazy people that hang out with the boss after work have a couple beers together then 4 months later they are your boss with a pay increase tell me the justice in that what a joke and nick I know a lot of people at anchor and I think you are right I have heard that the machine operators make 35 a hour including the line bonus and they say you can work all the over time you want their heck a lot of people work so much over time at anchor their wife or husband leaves them so I hear

anchor is a good place to work with good benefits..but like the other person said there is a price to pay..your life..your family suffers from the hours and getting bumped all over the place differant shifts you rarely know what day it is work every weekend and yes there is alot of infidelity because of the hours..you miss your kids programs sporting events try to find rides for the pick up of practices and everyone thinks if you work there you should have a pocket full of $ well when your a single parent all it does is put you in a higher tax bracket and bump you out of recieving any assistance..very frustrating knowing what income you make and then barely having enough for groceries and getting behind some that whip out that foodstamp card for their two carts of groceries when you barely have any in your cart..dont get me wrong I appriciate that I do have a job with insurance but there most definately is a price to pay for working there..your body never gets used to the swing shift..never

True true that swing shift sucks but machine operators make like 35 a hour so I hear and are on a regular shift and if you can't make it on 35 a hour I don't know what to tell you you can have a lot of nice stuff with that kind of money come on most people don't see 20 a hour its all how you look at life and what life has to offer you look at a lot of pipe welders most of them live out of state away from their families but some of them bring home 150 grand a year like I said 35 a hour you cant beat that
