I say they should because it would save money and I think the Sheriff does a great job.

Absolutely not. If you believe RSO would be better, move to a place RSO covers. I live in an RSO "covered" area, and if I call them, they want to set up an "appointment" to see me in the next 2 weeks or so. Not exactly what I would expect from law enforcement.

Besides, RSO has their own budget problems, and they are not in a place to take on more responsibilities.

HPD knows the territory, knows the problem areas, knows the "known suspects" and can do the job more effectively.

You are not very convincing, although there are not to many options.

Since Hemet has welcomed all the illegals, bangers and LA welfare mamas
HPD is in way over their head.

HPD has not done any thing to show they are up to the task.

"HPD has not done anything to show they are up to the task"

and RSO has? really? they have choppers, bazookas, cops of their own that shoot unarmed motorists, beat the hell out of truckloads of illegals ON CAMERA, rape underaged explorers, it goes on and on.

how about trading real statistics? how about how much municipal P.D.'s shell out, by percentage of their total budget, for claims v. big assed county operations?

Who would do a better job for you, pound for pound and all other factors being the same, training, eduction, dedication to the product, etc:

the non english speaking more than likely illegal that mows your lawn, or your own kid?

and before you try to dodge that point by saying, oh, definitely the wetback, kid's today aren't worth shttt, remember that YOU raised your kid, so if he doesn't respect you enough to "get it" then that's is YOUR doing.

so answer the real question, smartazz. who will do a better job for you, the small town home grown local merchant, or walmart?

how many ways does this have to get penciled out for YOU to get it?

HPD pretty well ROCKS as a cop shop. you know why firemen get all the glory? because when they roll into a call, they get to make everybody happy.

when a cop rolls into a call, he HAS to make exactly 51 percent of the equation UNHAPPY, at minimum. and even if the beat cop that rolls up on a dead kid, still hanging lifelessly in the arms of the parent that just murdered it, shooting the killer on the spot wouldn't bring back the kid, so the cop, statistically, can't win.

you never think of things like this, do you? even the cops never think about it, they just do their job.

you go ahead and let the pirouetting, lying thieves running your town sell the cops out. it danm sure won't be because of either the cops performance or because they can't afford them. they can afford them, they just want the bribe money that comes with deal making.

that's why they want to sell their trash pick up, same reason. it's all about the money all right... the money they will make in "commissions".

But the switch would save money and the Sheriffs has way more officers and resources and on top of that they do great in San Jacinto and Temcuala but most importanly it would save Millions of dollars. Hemet does not have enough officers to do a good job.

ummm... tom b.

it's a contract. you get what you pay for. are you dense? if you can't "afford" the number of cops you have now, what exactly makes you think you can pay for more from someone else? you think the county is going to give you cops for free?

you people are stupid, stupid enough to get what you deserve.

Are you ignorant you would save money because we have to pay for resources and the guys on top the Chief and those fellows which costs. Also we pay close to 2 Million in lawsuit from our police department getting sued. The sheriffs department take care of those lawsuits also San Jacinto has saved money and the cost for officers is cheaper. Also sheriffs are better because it is harder to past the fitness test most of our cop have lower requirements for fitness tests. I have lived in both the city and county Sheriffs are much better and more cost effective.

Another bonus if an officer is not doing a good job they can transfer him and also if they get sued it is in the contract that they will take care of it not the City. also Temcula and San Jacinto outsources and they have surpluses and they are doing a great job.

if there is any justice in life, you will be the first person lying on the ground getting his skull stomped by a half a dozen gang bangers after the contract is signed putting RSO in charge of response.

you'll die there, lying on the ground. I hope the words "i told you so" ring in your head for the six hours it will take for a cop to show up.

idiot. you think everything in life is about money?

Bottomline, is they are making a full time chief, sounds like they are keeping HPD. RSO, should at least get a bid. Competition drives down prices. What's HPD worried about?

That doesn't make any sense Hemet only had 40 cops anyways and Hemet Crime rates are very high and we spend we too much and I use to live in Valle Vista and the RSO did a great job. So we could get more cops for every buck. Also no life is not always about money but if Hemet goes bankrupt because we can no longer afford our police then we have to outsource anyways might as well do it now and build some excess funds. You sound like your a HPD officer afraid you can't pass the fitness test like San Jacinto cops like half of there police force couldnt even join the sheriffs because they couldnt pass the fitness test. They are efficent and they save money and they do a good job in Temcula, San Jacinto, and Valle Vista they can do a good job in Hemet too.

hey, tom, why don't you try walking into the pd and showing a gun, find out just how fit those cops are?

no, i'm not a cop. you couldn't pay me enough to put my life on the line for the likes of you.

i daresay i'm more fit than you, and still will be when i'm 80.

you're a couch potato living through tv shows.

You dont even know me for one, also I am a retired Army Sargent and I am still in great health and very fit much more fit than you, I run 2 miles a day and go to the gym 4 times a week, finally I don't even watch TV all that much except the news every once in a while. The point is I respect our P.D. but I think it is for the communitie best interest to bring the Sherrifs in.

Hey Tom, how could you have been a "Sergeant", when you can't even spell it correctly.

FAIL!!!!!!!!!!

Tom B...you a retired Army "Sargent" who can't spell Sergeant? I don't think anyone expects you to spell community correctly, but you expect us to take you seriously?

What crime rate(s) are you talking about? 40 cops in Hemet? If I give you that (albeit incorrect), how many Deputies does the Hemet Sheriff Station staff? How many do they put out on a typical shift there in ol' Valle Vista? Wanna know...usually around 4-5 at best for the entire Hemet County area to include Idyllwild, Anza, Homeland, Juniper Flats, Sprague Heights, etc. They do a good job...not my point. My point is, yes you guessed it...you don't have a clue.

Close the door on your trailer, the swamp cooler is working too hard.

Tom:

You should call San Jacinto City Hall. Since they brought in the Sheriff their costs have gone up over 48% in 5 years without any service level increases. Just go on-line and look at their budget. It is crazy! I have heard half of the SJ Council wants the Sheriff out. So, if you don't have the facts shut the heck up.

Mean while there is no indication HPD wants to even try to do the job.

Looks like sherrif wins by default.

Yes but as I was saying before if someone sues HPD the City pays it so when you look at the budget you have to add 1-2 million dollars to the budget because if someone sues the sheriffs they pay for it according to contract also the sheriffs have much more resources than HPD. Also just because I misspelled Sergeant doesn't mean I am stupid but I do use the computer all that much and when I type too fast I misspell a lot of things so cut me some slack. But going back to my point sheriffs will be much cheaper than HPD!!!!!!

The Hemet Police Department used to be the best department in the Inland Empire. In the last 5 years, it has gone drastically downhill. With the current state of the city, it will never be what it once was. The city has been lost to low class and low income. The citizens would be better served by the Sheriff at this point.
