another el paso times horsechit article on how good wilson has done. wilson did raise taxes. its called a stormwater tax. now she has a million more in the kitty from the street department because she passed on this work to the psb and the new tax called a stormwater fee. god, no wonder they had to furlough so many of you people at the eptimes. idiots.

Interesting the timing of the article, right after the council meeting, where it was revealed that the city will have (wink, wink) shortfalls for the next two years. And a council member asked what happens when they cant pay the bills for things bought in advance. Also stated that council can not continue to just spend, requiring closer looks at expenditures.

The problem is, as stated the budget is based on SPECULATIVE revenues. Of course, there were some deer-caught-in the-light looks.

Amazing the Wizard of Oz with the numbers game. If the CAD had not went stupid on the valuation of properties you can rest assure that the city would be in the red even more. I am quite sure that the city has already informed the CAD to get the max out of everyone again as Witch Wilson and gang want a salary increase! Every taxing entity is watching to see what the voters in the EPISD do for the bond issue. If it passes all taxing entities have the green light to raise taxes.
Numbers are easy to juggle and present a picture that they want to portray to us, bring in someone from outside and lets see what the real truth is

only problem with bringing in someone from the outside it would probably cost us more money and all of council would probably let someone like red oak do it who has everything to gain with making wilson look good.

Another example of the El Paso Times printing what government gives them to print. No reporting here - just acting as an arm in support of whatever Bull the City needs to feed the public. How can any of the people working at the EP Times call themselves Reporters???

No Tax increase - HuH??? The amount of property taxes I paid last year was higher than the year before. Just like this year when the CAD stuck it to me again. They can't substantiate any increase but state how professional and correct theit methods of appraisal are. I hate to use the word stupid - but the property owners in EP are treated like stupid peons by obviously stupid officials that think we are buying into their Bull.

The problem is they make the laws and then play us like a fiddle.

Moe, I wonder, since the "City budget is in better shape", does that mean that they will just have to waste and spend MORE to keep **it the way that we expect them to?? Of course, those ***holes at Central Appraisal are just a taxing entity, an "end to justify the means". When ever Wilson or John C(R)ook wants more money, they simply put in a call to CAD and tell them do more, HIGHER property evaluations, re-evaluations. In 1993 I paid about $85,000 for my new house to be built. Now just a few blocks away in a new addition, the houses are valued at around $104-140,000. Many of them are empty, unsold, grown up in weeds. But my house, well it's more than 17 years old and valued at more than $50,000 ABOVE the price of these NEW houses. Since Cook and Wilson came to power, my monthly payment has increased by more than $300 per month and that is on a FIXED rate VA loan. El Paso is definitely not a place for Military retirees or any retiree. Go to Austin, San Antonio, Phoenix, San Diego, Alabama. ALL have lower property taxes than El Paso. The problem is, how do you sell "your" house, when anybody can buy a NEW one for much less.?? And we know that C(R)ook and Company will vote FOR a Gas company rate increase and the electric company increase. They do nothing for US, have done nothing for us.
