A Hugo attorney accused of scuffling with a sheriff's deputy guarding a tornado-ravaged neighborhood made his first court appearance Tuesday.

There is no doubt in my mind that an ego-maniacal hothead like Heaton is also beating his wife! Not to mention the effect on the child(ren). That poor Comcast employee: Who would expect to be assaulted while installing cable???? This jerk (Heaton) couldn't even hold his temper for the year's stay he got from that "temper tantrum". I hope the judge doesn't cave when it comes to this incident. Heaton is destined to continue this behavior. Get off of your "lawyer high horse", Heaton, and realize that you're just another hothead nobody!

Obstructing with force is a Gross Misdemeanor at best; otherwise it's 4th degree assault - a felony. Disorderly conduct can only be a misdemeanor at best. And I really don't think he was denied life, liberty, or property. He was asked to IDENTIFY himself, and state his reason for being in the area! For the safety of himself and others.

Just to clear up the law part of this, below is the URL listing statute under which he was charged. A felony means you can serve more than a year; A gross misdemeanor means you can serve up to a year; A misdemeanor means you can serve up to 90 days. Are you a lawyer? If so, maybe you should 'defend' this dummy! I wonder how you would feel if your house was damaged and your belongings were scattered all over; then only to have some idiot come in, rummage thru your stuff and split with everything they could carry? The law enforcement in this country are AWSOME!! Even if you are an idiot, they have an obligation to helpyou and put their life on the line.
