Tewksbury's Motel Caswell wins forfeiture case
The government's attempt to seize the Motel Caswell under federal drug-forfeiture laws was dismissed Thursday by a federal judge who found police made no effort to work with or warn the property's owner.

Score one for the little guy. There was no basis for attempting to seize this man's property other than dollar signs in the eyes of the feds and Tewksbury PD. They lost all credibility in this case when they failed to go after other high crime properties in the town like Motel 6 (which apparently still has a mortgage unlike the Caswell).
Thankfully we live in a nation of laws where people are to be secure in their possessions. Justice prevailed this day.

I agree. What a dishonest and underhanded attempt to use the legal system to steal from a private citizen.
Not only should the state have to reimburse the cost of legal fees, but the owner of the Casewell should be awarded restitution for his grief.
