Gas in Morris is 30 cents a gallon cheaper than Wilmington so I go there for groceries, to eat out (better choices and more variety) and buy gas. Would love to shop locally, but cannot afford to.

Berkots actually at 1st yes I agree prices were high but now they are less expensive & they carry a much bigger selection than Belletini's. If you add the cost of gas to drive to Morris to the cost of groceries it will be much cheaper to shop at Berkotts. Also supporting your town is a GREAT idea.

Why shouldn't I pocket the gas money I save? Why do I have to hand it over to Berkots? I am all for supporting your town, but when they up the costs because they know they are the only game in town, do they deserve supporting? |

Thankfully we live in a free country and are able to patronize any business we wish. If you do not like Berkots, dont shop there.

so if it costs you 3 gallons of gas to go to morris or joliet thats about 12 bucks. if i do my shopping for the whole week at berkots i would spend a lot more than 12 bucks. prolly more like 50 bucks. so i can save around 38 bucks if i spend 40 minutes of travel to get to morris or joliet. 38 bucks for 40 minutes... seeing as how i dont make almost a dollar a minute at my piece of crap job, it seems like its worth my time to travel out of town for groceries. not too many people these days make a dollar a minute, so im sure its probablly best for everyone to travel out of town. as for supporting your town or local businesses... why the hell would i want a store that gouges the crap out of me to stay in business. one hand washes the other. they give me reasonable prices, i shop there. you cant honestly expect me to believe that berkots ( a pretty big chain) is paying that much more for groceries than any other store. berkots can suck a fat nugget. if i absolutly have to have something, maybe ill go there. most of the stuff i would absolutly have to have i could just get at a gas station though.(milk, eggs, bread) |

Obvious, by reading your comment, you sound like you might be shopping the dumpsters behind McDonalds! If you shop the sales and don't spend all your hard earnrd food stamps on steaks, you too, could afford to shop locally. |

Berkots has the best meat. Your not buying horse meat or old egg hens at Walmart in Morris are you? The only thing I'd by at Jewel, anywhere, is the Fillet steaks& pub burgers if I couldn"t make it to B's. Everyone's prices are going up...check the price of grain & fuel lately? BTW Jewel has cut back on cashiers,(jobs)forcing us all to go to SELF CHECKOUT!

yeah... because walmart isnt regulated by the FDA like every other store is. they can sell whatever they want to. pffft. you sound like a crack pot. are you trying to tell me that the betty crocker cake mix i get for about a buck cheaper at walmart is somehow better at berkots? its not just the meat and eggs that people shop for. berkots hammers you on all of their groceries. when it comes to fresh foods (meat, produce, dairy) shop where you feel it is the best quality you like. as for general dry groceries... buy them where they are cheapest. |

Correct; Walmart is regulated by the FDA however, it is the grade of meet that is in question.
