What is going on on Route 102

What in the Hell is going on on Route 102? Is there going to be anything left to repave?
Kind of fitting that it's in Wesley Township considering the hillbillyish condition of Wesley roads.

Yep, it is a state road. (your smart) I'm just saying that it's in the the township and matches up very well with the poor quality of what Wesley calls roads.

I know what your saying. The wife and I looked at a house out in Resthaven late last year but decided that without anything more than dirt roads and weeds taller than my car it was not the place for us.
The house is still sitting empty and I hear the one next to it is also.
You people wonder why you have the reputation that you have? The place is a dump!

I live in Wesley Township a lot of houses are sitting empty. Compared to other townships your right this place is a dump. If I could I would sell my house and move. In the winter I'm trapped, even though I pay to have my sidewalks and driveway cleaned I can't drive on the roads just a sheet of ice ended up in the ditch a few times.

i just drove on 102 since it was paved. Now I know why they left it unpaved so long. Everyone was complaining that the road was so bad when torn up. So they pave it and now it is like riding a boat on rough water (wavy at best)and it is better than it was. So everyone is happy - NOT - it is one of the poorest paving jobs I have seen in years. So much for our stimilus dollars.

Larry, I think you are right. Someone botched this bad and the lead engineer should be fired!
It's bad enough that we have to contend with failing chip roads, patch on patch on patch, hole after hole after hole and generally shitty maintenance on our Wesley Township roads, but now the added expense of car repairs because of this abortion!

I think its stupid funny how a very bad destroyed STATE road got turned into a Wesley township problem. RT 102 is just as bad threw Wilmington! I don't know how this new construction company Austin & Taylor out of Joliet got this job? They had to be real cheap cause it wasn't there speed to get a job done or correct! They ground up 102 and then leave for 3 weeks before doing somthing. I called every township, state, local person I could everyday and they ALL passed the ball. "Its the states problem" NO "call Wilmington they are the ones who OK this job". All I can say is we found someone SLOWER and can't manage to finish a job in time than D- Construction!!!!!

Approximately six and a half miles of the road (Rt.102)is in Wesley Township. I would say that that is a Wesley Township problem. Do they own it , no. Do they have to contend with it? Yes. The same as with the rest of the roads in the Township! I have also made a few calls and got nothing but a run around about who is responsible for that mess.
Some choice I have each day , dodge the holes, the humps, and drive on the shoulder of Ballou Road or ride the new wave of 102 dodging semis. It's the same thing if I want to take Hintze Road to my mom's house in Lakewood Shores, a roller coaster ride!
Where is all the money being used that is collected by the road district to keep the tar & chip repaired?
We pay our taxes like everyone else, why is it that we get it stuck to us by both the state and the local?

Hey, everyone . . . it won't be wavy for long . . . they have to put on one more layer and have done such on a portion coming into town from Bourbonnais. I agree they're taking a long time to finish this, but come on . . . we're getting a newly paved RT 102.

It was a bottom coat over a poor base. The top will be much better. Maybe you should move!

There you go stupid. Lets all move because some poor ass construction company couldn't get a job done in a timely manner. I don't care if it was top,bottom, or middle coat, they took off and didn't give a dam about the road for 3 weeks. I have worked asphalt before and all 3 companys that I worked for dug it up and put it down right behind. MAYBE I SHOULD MOVE, DAM GOOD ONE I STILL CAN'T STOP LAUGHING!!! Thats why I like this topix, can't pay for better laughs than on here.

We are still convinced that this was one of the poorest road building / resurfacing jobs ever! The binder coat was awful and the topcoat is still nothing more than a wave. There is no crown to speak of and the standing water all over the road after a rain is a very good indicator of overall piss poor quality and workmanship! The time involved to complete this project was totally unacceptable by any standards and hopefully this company and the lead engineer will never be used for another project by the state again. If some type of performance bond was applied to this contract we sincerely hope that it was revoked.

The one redeeming factor is that the endless truck traffic heading to and from our renowned and loved intermodal will destroy this surface in a few short years.
