Unified Technologies Group CEO Ben Piilani Presents Technology’s Role In Advancing The Global Climate Initiative At This Week’s Historic United Nations Leadership Summit On Climate Change - Piilani Discusses How Technology Can Solve Many Environmental & Energy Problems With Secretary-General BAN Ki-moon, Former U.S. Vice-President Al Gore & Various International Officials - (Wilmington, Delaware)-- The Unified Technologies Group, Inc., a global leader in transforming technology into real business solutions, announced today that Ben Piilani, CEO, Unified Technologies Group, Inc., had attended and participated in this week’s United Nations Leadership Summit on Climate Change in New York City. Piilani is an active corporate member and partner of the United Nation’s Global Compact and promoted several technology solutions with global leaders in order encourage a finalized global climate agreement in Copenhagen, Denmark. “The real objective of this Summit on Climate Change was to mobilize political will and vision to reach a successful outcome based on science and technology at the United Nations climate talks in Copenhagen in December 2009. We need to make sure our world leaders ‘seal the deal’. I totally agree with General-Secretary BAN Ki-moon that our long term price of inaction will far outweigh the short-term costs of action. All of us in the private and public sectors need to commit to certain principles to curb greenhouse gas emissions. With a low carbon economy as our goal, a finalized agreement in Copenhagen is a step in that direction. I challenged each leader to seek ways to swiftly adopt new technologies in order curtail possible future environmental catastrophes,” said Piilani. Nearly 100 world leaders accepted UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s invitation to participate in the historic Summit on Climate Change on Wednesday, September 22, 2009. The purpose of the conference was to mobilize political will and strengthen momentum for a fair, effective and ambitious climate deal in Copenhagen in December 2009. In his opening address, Ban Ki-moon stated,“Failure to reach broad agreement in Copenhagen would be morally inexcusable, economically short-sighted and politically unwise. Now is the moment to act in common cause.” Summit participants engaged in interactive discussion sessions on mitigating and adapting to climate change, focusing on such areas as food security, energy solutions, water, financing and disaster preparedness.“In discussions with Ukrainian President Yushchenko and other dignitaries, I urged them to help transform our global economy and sign-off on the Copenhagen agreement which will spur true innovation, new investment and encourage green growth globally,” said Piilani.“As a business member of the United Nation’s Global Compact, I was extremely honored to participate in the largest-ever gathering of world leaders on climate change.” Based in Wilmington, Delaware, the Unified Technologies Group, Inc. is a global consulting corporation assisting companies, organizations and government entities to transform imaginative technology ideas into leading products and services. Unified Technologies Group also owns and operates Zer01 Communications (www.zer01mobile.com ), a Las Vegas, Nevada, based company that recently launched its new nationwide mobile wireless service, Zer01 Mobile, the only true unlimited voice, data and Web mobile wireless service priced at a low monthly fee.
