New crime wave in Stonehurst Apartments

For two consecutive months, a burgar has been breaking into parked cars in Stonehurst Apartments. The incidents first started in July and last night where a late model card had its windows smashed. The burglar always breaks into cars during the weekends and when it rains. In this apartment facility there is no security system and no security cameras to record who comes in and who comes out. Newport police need to patrol this area more frequently during rainy days.

These are tough economic times, city budgets are stretched bare thin so I doubt anyone thinks more police on the beat can be afforded. Try a community watch volunteer system. Talk out the particulars of such a security system at the next apartment renters/owners meeting. Let's do things for ourselves that we can reasonably do to make our neighborhoods safer from crime and drugs. An eleven o'clock pm curfew for all children under the age of 18 in the apartment complex too.
