Dear Advanced Metal Roofing;

I have had so many compliments on my metal roof that was installed recently. The light stone color is beautiful and it looks fabulous! Justin and his crew worked hard to make sure every detail was done to my satisfaction. No more ugly rusty pipes, missing shingles, or leaks! I am very pleased with the result. This is a great investment!

Dear Sirs,

I want to let your company know how pleased I am with our new roof. I thought it was going to take a long time, but it didn’t, they were through on no time and cleaned up all the mess in the yard. My husband and I are so pleased with the outcome and the way it looks great. We comment on how much better our house looks now then before. Thanks for making our house look so good.

My wife and I have lived in Robeson county since June of 1999. Our first contact with your firm was with Rob Atkins, your salesman, and a very pleasant meeting we had. We agreed on a price to have our roof finished with your metal roofing. Only a few days later, the material was delivered. To our surprise, the truck driver, named Kenny (last name unknown) was very courteous and polite, something we are not use to in this county. Then just two days later, the installer phoned us and came to look at the roof. The next morning, he and his crew started the installation. We are still shocked to see such courteous and professional people, not to mention how quick and great a job they did. I recommend your metal roofing and workmanship to anyone needing a roof.

After seeing what my neighbor's roof looked like, I contacted Advanced Metal Roofing to see about getting one of my own to replace the old shingles. The company sent someone out to discuss everything and with the satisfaction of the great customer service, I made the decision and I am glad I went with Advanced Metal Roofing. They are a great company and will not do you wrongly!

I just want others to know about this great company.

Thanks.

Dear Sirs,

Advanced Metal Roofing installed my new roof in February 2005. I was very pleased with their thorough presentation. I also was very pleased with the professional and efficient installation. The installers were learned in their skill, and very neat. The entire roof was installed in 4 days. I have constant compliments on the roof from neighbors and friends. I just went through hurricane Ophelia in the home and felt the roof was very strong. I felt very safe even though the winds were 80 mph

Thank you,

Dear Sirs,

I had one of your metal roofs put on my house in March of this year. I was very pleased with the crew that did the work. They were all nice as they could be and really did a good job on the installation.
I would recommend your metal roof to any one who asks me about mine.

Sincerely,

Customer Testimonial

27 April 2008

My roofing project took place in March 2008. I chose the Diamond White color because it matched well with my house trim. My primary objective was to deflect solar radiated heat away from my roof. In contrast, dark colored asphalt shingles actually absorb much heat. As summer fast approaches, it is obvious to me that the attic vent fan has not come on once yet. What is not obvious to me is when it rains. I just do not hear the sounds of rain coming down on my house like before. That is truly amazing to me.

Mark was the “on-site” supervisor during the assembly stage of the project. I say “assembly” because all the cutting and shaping of the metal panels were done off-site prior to delivery. The materials were “custom-fit” to my house’s unique roofline. A week before assembly, George had come by to take measurements and sketches of my roof. My roof panels were assembled a few days after the projected assembly date. Local wind-storms during the original date made assembly unsafe at that time. Mark and his crew came out the very day the winds calmed; on a Sunday at my request! My roofline is a simple two-tier gable and the crew finished in just one-half day. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away at project’s end. Discarded pieces were gathered and picked up throughout the assembly process.

The outcome is that I am a satisfied customer. Passer-bys in the neighborhood have remarked to me repeatedly how beautiful the roof looks now. It is unique in an asphalt-shingle community. The neighborhood seems to have dubbed me an innovator with a flair for style. I just wanted to keep the heat and the rain off my house. I do not regard myself as an innovator though. I have observed that every commercial and public building constructed these days have a metal roof on it. There are reasons for that which I now benefit from.

Although I consider my roofing project a success, experience has taught me things that a new customer may want to consider. PRIOR PLANNING IS KEY! Assess your house sometime before the sales presentation. If there is anything out of the ordinary not obvious to the casual eye, make note of it. Insist that your concerns are addressed to George. My house has a special brand of siding that is rigid; unlike most vinyl siding that is flexible. Pointing out and asking questions about those significant details early on would have helped in the planning stages. I ran Tim, the regional construction supervisor for my area through hoops. I did not recognize and stress the importance of my facade. My hat goes off to Tim for being there when I had issues to address. He answered the phone and returned my calls. That is appreciated as good ole’ fashion customer service. That went a long ways with me. Communication is everything! His follow-up inspections insured my satisfaction.

In my eyes, Matt (Advanced Metal Roofing President) and Tim bear the mark of professionalism in the world of contracting. They set an example to emulate and a tone to follow in this company. That is why they are in leadership positions and that is why I write this testimonial. If a person would like to ask questions of a customer who has “been there and done that”, do not hesitate to write me at john.backensto@hotmail.com I would have no problem coordinating a home showing at a time convenient to us both.

Sincerely,
John H. Backensto

What professional roofing contractors say about Advanced Metal Roofing:
As a former roofing professional (my knees have gotten much older than the rest of me) allow me to shed some empirical light on the subject of metal roofing and some items regarding Advanced Metal Roofing.
1. Roofing, in addition to some Fed/State/Local building code considerations, is governed chiefly by the manufacturer's of roofing - with regard to application standards. This is due to building codes, especially in residential applications, not specifically addressing roofing in the same detailed manner as other divisions (e.g. framing). An item that is slowly being resolved - but I repeat...slowly.
2. The only non-biased source of good information is the N.R.C.A.-National Roofing Contractors Association. This provides the industry standard for roofing practice - the NRCA Manual. When it comes to metal items - SMACNA is also a terrific and respected source of information.
3. For a specific roofing system to be "lifetime", "windproof", etc. there needs to be documentation to justify these claims. The responsible body for the metal itself would ultimately be US Steel and the intermediaries therein. The responsible body for the paint would be the paint manufacturer/applicator (e.g. BASF). The responsible body for the wind certification, uplift, etc. would be Underwriters Laboratory.
The documentation from each of these groups is absent from Advanced Metal Roofing's documentation , so far as I am able to gather.
4. Research "Kynar 500 / Hylar 5000" paint finish systems. These are the INDUSTRY BENCHMARK for metal roof paints.

The biggest questions I would voice are these:
A. When did it become o.k. to install a metal roof over an existing roof? All MAJOR manufacturers strongly discourage the practice, to the point that they will modify and/or refuse their warranty in this application.
B. Ask Advanced Metal Roofing what kind of paint their "new" panel manufacturer supplies them with since they were dropped by Union Corrugated (who did not furnish Kynar 500 / Hylar 5000 either.)
C. 26 gage steel(the lower the number, the thicker it is) is the considered MINIMUM acceptable metal thickness for roofing by the NRCA. The NRCA suggests that the most common thickness is 24 gage.
D. Why can't you find any actual product information on Advanced Metal Roofing website. I see 4 ways they will accept payment, but zero on MANUFACTURER ENDORSEMENT or ACCREDITATION.
E. Why have I NEVER seen Advanced Metal Roofing, their product-line (referred to in the industry as an "AG" or "Agricultural" Panel), or their installation methodology (overlay) specified on a school, a military base, an architectural review board, a roof consultants specification, or an approved bidders list.
Why are the metal panel products they present as lifetime solutions rejected by architects as "unacceptable alternates" and/or unacceptable as even a "value-engineering option"?
Why is it that Advanced Metal Roofing has ONLY been mentioned by the roofing industry with regard to dollar volume? Not for quality?

Again, I am out of the game anyway, and no "Tony" (a paid actor by the way)- I do not need a roof.
I may stop back to see if there are any posts... Jim Kenton (a.k.a. James Kenton) likes to blog and flood-post from what I understand.

To the remaining roofing contractors - beware what you say publicly about Advanced Metal Roofing in public -- their new tactic is to file lawsuits against their competitors.
