Hello Sherri. I am just as outraged! On the Blizzard note my car was snowed in and plowed in as well at at least 15 others on that side of the block. My car wouldnt start and the cops were out there, I was talking to them and explaining how I am working on finding someone to help me push it out. They said we are giving everyoine a chance to get out. Well within an hour with several cars to be towed on that side my girlfriend looked out the window and told me they are starting to hook up my car. At that point I wasnt sure if they were just relocating vehicles due to the circumstances or towing them for a fee. I went out before it was hooked up to ask that question to the driver who ignored me and the police pulled up. I was not aggressive in any manner as a matter of face the cops were yelling at me very agressively and I kept my cool even though I was so mad with the way they they were acting. I wasnt about to get any more tickets for yelling back at the scum bags. Not only did chicago police clear lake shore drive for free they waited 2 weeks to tow abandoned vehicles from the side streets. Skokie waited 2 days. They would not let me push my car out of there when I found the help. They insisted on towing it. When I went to retrieve my car the cars were assigned in lots there were so many towed as you probably know. It is a good thing my lot was at the skokie swift you know why? It is only few blocks from my apartment. My car was leaking antifreeze like crazy because they cracked the radiator ripping it out of the snow on a steep angle.Im lucky I made it home or else I would have been getting towed again from somewhere else. My car wasnt worth the $400 repair because it was such an old beater but it was all I had! Thanks to the Skokie police/crooks and the morons ant Lindmar towing I had to pay $140 plus a $50 dollar ticket and had to junk my car. There were several helpless elderly people trying to retrieve their cars at Lindmar. They knew damn well elderly people couldnt get their cars out. How can they prey on the helpless elderly and women who couldnt get their cars out. I mean who are the majority of people parked on skokie side streets anyway? RESIDENTS!! They could have waited at least a week to tow but they want that revenue! I would love to piss on the skokie police department and the owner of Lindmar towing in morton grove. My girlfriend moved me to this dump they call Skokie! I hate it here! The cops turn a blind eye to real crime around here and heavily enforce the parking tickets. They should really be ashamed at the way they handled this blizzard. Any time you want to start a petition against them you have my 100%dedicated effort. Maybe I will start one. This police department needs to get its priorities straight! Damn crooks!

I would have been happy to come home Fri to a $35 ticket. I returned home from work to find my car had been towed and no one knew where it was. After paying a $140 fee in addition to the $50 ticket I had to search four storage lots to find my vehicle. I heard the sirens on Thurs night and believed the snow emergency was over. The frustrating part is my street was clear from curb to curb and had been for days. It was obvious that no plow had been down the street Fri because there was no snow deposited in front of our shoveled sidewalks and driveways. It's an imperfect system but everyone makes an effort to be informed and use common sense. Towing cars unnecessarily just because you can is opportunistic and doesn't foster goodwill. At a time when our community is facing challenges to our quality of life and feeling the continued stress of economic hardship we look to the village to do better by us than this.

Apparently, Skokie just doesn't care about its people.

I absolutely agree.
I got a ticket for parking within 19? feet of an intersection... even if I had a tape-measure on me, I would not know where to measure from. There was no cross walk, no yellow curb, no nothing. There was enough room for a car to park behind me. I sent a letter to try to argue my case. It was rejected, they wanted $250! I could have been on a high speed chase and gotten less of a fine! Parking tickets should not cost more than moving violations!!!

I was angry and going to contest, but after reading the posts I see that I have no grounds. The one thing that allows use to no how to act in society is from experience. When we had 4" they didn't shovel until three days later. The last snow (which seemed to be the same depth) didn't merit shoveling. I'm not from here but knew about the laws, but laws only work when enforced consistently. "Welcome to reality, government will take your money", doesn't make it right.
There are laws about talking on the phone. I will not rant, but people cause much danger still doing it but experience tells us that police will not ticket them. Don't get me started about lane changing signals! So one cannot simply retort, "it's the law" because enforcement is inconsistent.
I feel sorry for the people with ego's so weak that they need to berate others in this anonymous forum. Egos that don't have much to identify with, try to survive by pointing to others faults.
