Patrons of art and vast land owning family auctioning off land? Why? What is going on behind the scenes that would make these people NUDGE a bit. Of course they are not feeling any financial pinch at these levels because they technically don't "own" anything (that way they get the public to pay for it all but they keep control of course)...These are all the RIGHT questions to ask. And there are a few hundred more powerful families that we have never heard of, higher up the elitist fractal in fact - These are the moves that matter - above and irregardless of the circus of politics and news dramas, for centuries these sorts of move quietly and DETERMINATELY take place...whether you like it or not! So far as the Pritzkers selling land they own, why are people screaming? That's why you buy investment property in the first place.

Could they have donated the smaller portion to the Lake County Forest Presever, certainly. Especially since in that area you don't have 50 acre homesites.

However keep an eye out for the buyers to be looking to eliminate the conservation easement in the coming months and years.

Hopefully they'll still be able to negotiate the trail connection, which would be a wonderful asset for the county and for those who bought the property also.
