The problem with not having a dress code is that some kids and their parents never learn/understand that the world is not All about them and their wants. Living in a society where there are some kind of rules just makes sense, otherwise there is no structure in daily living, which then in return brings about crime, etc. Unfortunately there are people who don't teach their children that this world we live in is about Us and not Me Me Me....

Yes too many kids spoiled by their parents. Proud to say my son is not one of them.

Dress codes? Sure make them all dress like bankers and lawyers, so they can grow up to be as corrupt as them.

As socialist as this may feel to some, the only way to insure that schools are institutions of learning and not a place to compare fashion or family affluence, is to use school uniforms. Anything else will just incite some kind of argument. Looking back on my experience, I really wish we had them at our schools. I hated being judged about what I was wearing and I hated even more seeing my friends who were not very well off enduring the immature insensitive junk lobbed at them because they were not seen as "cool." If it were possible to make sure that all teenagers could learn some maturity, manners and decency this would not be necessary. But it seems that things are not improving and instead devolving when it comes to teenagers learning to be civilized. So unfortunately it seems the best thing to do is enforce uniforms to start. If that works, then bring in Sidney Portier to teach some civility.
