nothing. Both are falling apart and run into the hole financially. Does that tell you how he's running things?

Isn't there a conflict of interest for Michael Prokop to be on the Library Board and the Historical Society.
He has been on that board for 25+ years and has done nothing. I wonder what he has done to improve the historical society.

i dont know whats going on at the library but there is something going on.

it used to be when one would walk, the staff behind the desk would talk and interact.. Now they just say hi and look down like they are very busy. Must be some rule they cant talk to the visitors or something.

sad.

yes..out of the blue, he comes in and decides he should change the horticulture club without asking any of the members why they were members and what they wanted out of the club. He just pushed his own agenda on the club and alienated everyone. He basically ruined the club.

Good ole Don hansen is an idiot. He visited the horticultural club at Triton because his wife was a member. Came one day and ruined it. He took upon himself to rewrite the bylaws or rules and focused on sustainability. He drove people away. I and several other members quit because of him.
I wish he would just go away. He is just trouble. He ruins it for everyone with his stuypid ideas. Its his way or no way. He is just a blubbering idiot.
River Grove would be better off without him.

All of River Grove is bossed by hacks. Mayor May is in Florida most of the time...at her home. Thats why shes so tan all the time. RG is on auto pilot.

You cant do anything in RG withoutsomeone knowing about it. But most accept it as the statu quo...you can do all kinds of stupid crap and no one says anything. It is allcrooked.

noticed that too. It is like in the last 2 months. Its like the folks behind the desk were told not to talk to much to the people coming in.. just hello and goodbye and that's it. Maybe someone told them not to talk or something. Feel bad for those folks...probablky not paid a lot either and they have to deal with that kind of stupid sh**t..

I have been coming in for years and would chat with the girls and guys behind the desk. Now they have their backs to you. They just say hi and that is it. I dont know what is going on there but it really is not good.

I wonder if this is the same Mr. Hansen who I talked to at the Riverfront fest a coule years ago. There was a Friends of the Library table. I talked to this fella about possibly offering a class on flyfishing and flytying. He said there would definitely be interested. I gave him my info and he said he would call. Never heard back. I called the library and a young lady called and told e she gave my info to whoever was in charge of classes. I never ever heard back. I called the guy several times. What was the point?

I think someone at the computers was griping that the library staff was loud and disruptive. I think they maybe complained so now everyone behind the desk is quiet. I remember someone complaining a couple of times 2 years ago and then last year. It is sad...because that place is so small...you cant even have a normal conversation without ggetting their nose bent out of place.
I dont think the trustees told them not to talk to people.

People continue to have issues with River Grove Public Library. The person tasked with day to day operation of the library is the Director. Any inquiries should be made to her. She reports to the board of trustees. It is her responsibility to keep the board advised on what is going on. If a patron has a question about operation or staff, see her. As for the board, YOU have the opportunity to makes changes. There will be four(4) seats up for reelection in 2015. Don't complain, just run. Good ole Frank Stein will be up again. He's 92 and has no idea, why he is there. He was once heard to say, I do whatever Mike tells me to do, LOL.
Remember, quick your bitchin', go to the board meetings, let your voice be heard

you're out of touch. Many people have gone to the board meetings and a new trustee was elected and she already left because she felt frustrated because she was outnumbered and her ideas were shot down. It is always their way or the highway.

If anything could be done....then all of the trusteess need to be fresh new folks. If one or two becomes trustee.. that doesnt mean anything since they are outnumbered by the old timers.

get real.

who wants to deal with the BIG mess that the board has left? Who wants to clean up that sh(*t.....? Honestly.

Also who wants to deal with the mayor and the village....they "re all useless and ineffective.

River Grove is going down the tubes.

Half the people leave the village after a couple of years. They are not committed folks..Most are foreigners..Theyre the ones using the library the most but leave the other folks in charge.

so where does that leae you

Mr, Hansen, everything he gets involved with, manages to turn it into total garbage. The Friends of the Library is one. He managed to drive any membership away due to lack of leadership. The other problem is the Boards involvement on how the Friends are run. The only members of the Friends are the Library Board. Right now the Friends do not existence. People in RG want to be apart of Friends. But if question arise, come to the Board for direction, that is all they should be doing..

You are delusional.... The board board is a bunch of slum lords. Look at the sad shape the building is in.. Why did they let it get so bad. Also aint a couple of them board members also on the board of the historical society? I heard they let that get so bad that the foundation is falling to pieces.

The board members are bunch of hacks. It isn't even worth trying to run for any office...because there are still some old members left who overrule everthing. Why dod you think Susan Szezol left?

Frustration..they are not open to new ideas.. It is a old mans club.

That library board is a bunch of hacks. That indian lady is useless. She is a yes person to the rest of the board members. Doesn't have an independent thought in her. She is an arse kisser brown nose...pretty much useless.

Stein is so old he doesn't even know what year it is.

Overheard some of the clerks talking about some board member who sells old books taken off the shelf in the basement. Instead of giving back the profits to the Friends Group or the library he pockets the money himself...to supplement his retirement. And no one says anything. In the meantime I know that the library is struggling. I wonder if he reports this as income to the IRS.

I think the best thing is if the library just closed... There aint no one else willing to be on this board so why even kid yourself. Bunch of stealing hacks.

Mr. Stein, one of the library trustees passed away last year. So there is an opening.

Well....now another director at the library has left and bit the dust. This one was amazing and really did great things for the library. But I heard that the board was hard to get along with and she apparently had enough. Sad.

For the many years.. like say decades, that this board has been in place there is really no evidence of anything positive that they have done. Nothing to show for their time. Pathetic.
