I dont know what everyone is complaining about.

I have noticed that the library= has improved by leaps and bounds the last 3-4 years.

The library today is not the same library that was in existence 3 years ago.

Not sure why...but someone decided to make some changes and in a good way.

When you have a small library, it gives you more leewa to try new things....i guess you dont have tat muchto lose .

i think the River Grove library is outstanding. Sure it may be bigger, but that has never stopped me from using it the last 10 years. People will always need libraies no matter what the size.

There is no house...it was torn down. How can you rent an empty lot? for what?

there is a house next to that lot.

The library has improved the last several years. Whoever it is that should be congratulated. there are new programs e-books and a vareity of books for everbody. It might be the person in charge who made these changes.

The Director...Cathy Alberts. All these changes started when she came on board.

I dont think the board appreciates her.

Didnt know that house was included. It is a nice enough house..why would anyhone tear that down.

was the board thinking of tearing that house..?

i dont think that location was a good location for the library.

It should be more in the main area where people see where it is and does not bring extra car traffic to an already congested area.I dont think those residents want to see more cars in their neighborhood. It is bad enough...lpeople drive by to park for work and take Metra.

Glad it wasnt built there. Not a good location at all. And what about all that traffic that is lined up all the way to North avenue during rush hour..How would you like to be stuck in that when you just want to drive to the library.

Well i think the town should thank her. She has revitalized the River Grove Public library into a good library.

It wasnt doing too well before...It seemed to be out of touch with the times before. Now it seems to be current and in tune with the current times.

Actually it is interesting to note..the library had the same library board during the last 10 plus years and nothing was done as much as this library director. She should be recognized.

i dont know why there are library trutees...they dont do anything...except make bad decisons.

Why cant the library just have a director and that is all...She seems to have the knowledge what maes good library..not the trustees.

actually the trustees seem to be a hindrance instead. Also the village is a hindrancealso.

also the staff is much more up to date...and current. They are younger and actually know things.

Nothing against the older ladies that used to be there, but they did not know anything and got upset if you bothered them. They were sort of unpleasant.

Each time I asked one of them about something..they always waved you away and told you to go look it up yourself.

yea...it seems the library now is more dynamic and more interesting. It seems like they are trying new things and even the books reflect current interests.

Who ever used to order the books before...always got old lady books. Now they are more diverse.
And the people who work there are actually pleasant and will try to help.. The old crew...even the young guy Dave who worked there were all sourpusses.

notice the hours are cut to save money. That seems to be a smart move....there are times when the libray is empty...why stay open.

it seems the library is open to trying new things nowadays....which is good.

I think the library just needed some much needed new blood and also a younger set of staff who actually were educated.

As far as getting a new trustee...what good woul that do? the whole board should be changed.

I wished the library would be open on Sundays..but seeing that the library is cutting regular hours...guess that will never happen. Seriously..RG is a deadzone on Sundays.

supposedly the library is renting the house.

why tear down a perfectly good home...when you have a big delapidated bowling alley that needs to be torn down. Makes no sense.

that house if true is a perfectly good home and should not have be torn down. That is a residential area and should stay that way.

Glad the village nixed it...but too bad the library board couldnt get together with the village before buying this property and wasting all that money. That is an example of how dysfunctional this town is.... Instead of working together, they work apart from each other.

there is a house located next to the lot. the library purchased the house to use it for more parking spaces when the new library was built. the library is collecting rent on the house and paying taxes on the house.

Are they supposed to be renting that house? There was a lot of uproar when the library purchased the center st. property. but, i don't think anyone is aware of the house being rented.

no one knows what those folks are doing.

everything is kept a big secret.

Also....this last new trustee is already leaving. What has she accomplished? I dont see any outcome of this persons time on the board...in fact none of the board...

also someone said they are shortening their hours. I drove by and the marquee said that their new hours are now 10 to 10...sounds like they are increasing their hours.

everything is so messed up with this library.

yea..that is how these hacks go...

spend a year as a trustee, do nothing...resign and then put this on your resume and make yourself look so great.....where in reality.....you did jack crap about anything.

Totally useless position....being a trustee on the River Grove Library Board....no movement whatsoever.

someone else thinks they will jump on board and change everything...and they will find out they cant do crap...

totally useless

too many secrets...so much mysteriy with the library board. No one knows what they do...they keep everything secret.

it seems the library owns a lot of property in River Grove...but yet they are money poor.... stupid. very stupid.

I am amazed constantly by the shenanigans that the village and the library board come up with....it is like some stupid chess game where each makes dumb moves and no one ever wins....especialy the residents of River Grove... All these years the library has sat around stagnant not serving the people... People have just gave up...until recently the director has FINALLY got in touch with the commnity...The other directors were not in touch...they just had their old hen club and bought their old hen books..

hopefully smething positive will happen with the ibrary...but I dont think that is every going to happen with this library board. and also this mayor and her staff in the village.

well at least it is no longer tarpley....thank god.

yea the library board is a BS board...none of them are trained in business or are good decision makers.

yea..this szeszol...wow...already gone...wonder what that means.

she probably just got on board to make her resume look better ...probably looks good on paper...but in reality has done nothing.

probably just sat at the meetings and nodded off.
