Two teenage brothers were charged in the Sunday night stabbing death of a 17-year-old boy and with wounding three other people in the Edgewater neighborhood on Chicago's North Side.

However unfortunate a violent death can be, after reading the last sentence- WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO PUT THIS in my list of articles to read first thing this morning? Its not NEWS. Its depressing- and it aint really reporting anything of interest. "the victims and suspects all had gang affiliations, police said"- so, not to be callous, but, who cares? They didnt report that the young man was innocent and had good grades in school- so, to me, it made it NOT newsworthy.

Okay, Chicago has banned cigarettes almost militantly, now if they would treat the ban on guns like they do cigarettes, Chicago would be safer. Second hand bullets kill more than second hand smoke.

Oh my, gangbangers are killing each other with knives. We need an immediate ban of all knives in Chicago and while we are at it we should ban all knives in the US. Knives are so dangerous. Just think if knives were not available then these gangbangers could not have used them to kill innocent people.

Knives kill people, no one should have any knives in their house and they should not be able to carry any kind of knife on their person because the knife might be used to kill someone.

I think we should have an immediate regisatration of all knives in Chicago. I also think we should limit the number of knives someone can purchase. They should also have to pass a background check before they can make the purchase.

Oh yeah, there should be a three day waiting period after the purchase and before they can take possession of the knife, call it a cooling off period. I mean if you make them wait to get their knife we could prevent all kinds of violent crime.

Maybe we could hold an amnesty day where everyone in Chicago can bring their knives to the local police station without fear of prosecution. That is a great way to get these dangerous weapons off the street.

Maybe Mayor Daley can raid some money from some other city fund and have a buy back day where people get paid for turning in these deadly weapons.

We must ban knives right now before soneone else gets hurt or killed.

Sorry to tell you, but praying is not going to do anything. I'm sure the 70 year old woman shot the other day prayed a lot - god didn't stop any bullets from killing her, nor did god help leave any evidence to catch the killer. When kids feel scared, they look to protection. Gangs seem to offer protection in these areas, so the kids join rank, looking for protection and a little opportunity. The more the gangs grow, the more scared others become and the more fresh recruits they have (while scaring out local business, decreasing the available opportunities)- it's a vicious cycle. These "thugs" need to be systematically wiped out of those neighborhoods before anyone can be safe - in order for the thugs to be cleaned off the streets, the "don't snitch" attitude needs to be tossed and serious efforts need to be taken to ensure lots of opportunities and safety in the area. Unfortunately, I see none of that happening anytime soon considering the economy (it's hard to revive an area during a recession), ignorance of people living in the neighborhoods ("don't snitch", try to pray to fix things rather than actually act, vote for inept public officials), and lack of interest from public officials ("hands full" elsewhere, too busy taking bribes).

Why are kids killing kids? This is sad!!!!! Everyday when I turn on the news 15 years old kid gotten shot whats the reason for all of this? Where are the parents what are they doing....This has to stop we need real mother and father to take over and show our kids the right way to do....This is sad,,,,,Our kids cant go to school, cant go to the park, can't walk to the store because we dont want them to die... My heart hurts for our kids..and im only 28 my daughter is 5 and I pray over her everyday and night because i dont want my child to get caugh up in the war of killing kids...Mothers FAthers please watch over your child ask them question, take them where they may want to go, talk with their friends become a part your childs life... Pray for our kids

I was using sarcasm to point out how ridiculous gun laws are and whay a moron Daley is everytime he opens his mouth.

Every time a criminal commits a criminal act with a gun the uninformed masses start screaming for more gun laws, effectively infringing on my Second Amendment rights.
