I hope people east of the railroad tracks realize that response time just more than doubled for any fire call. The village reasoning of if there is a train then Schiller Park can respond. How long will that take?

It's about time the station was closed. It was too small of a building. It served its purpose in the day. Franklin Park has a clear shot with the underpass and on call is River Grove.

Under the guise of "saving money". would be my guess. It does bring back memories of the threats of subcontracting out of the Fire Dept.at the beginning of as-holes 1st term. It was a big to-do at the time ,and made the evening news. Maybe its on the radar again? I see LOTS of orange tickets all over town again.

Yeah but they're risking the public's safety when they do something like that.

It is with great pride that we decided to close the station. Our Firemen deserve to sleep without the blow of the railroad horn. They were moved to a new prestigious building. It was inhuman to keep our finest in the building. They were exposed to high decibel levels of sound for many years.
If you can afford it, join us in a wine and cheese party to celebrate this great step forward in combating railroad horn noise in the community.
Tickets are Seventy Five dollars. For this you get to join with us in combating this great scourge that is blighting our wonderful Franklin Park. No blue jeans allowed. Tie and sport coat is required.
We will also be discussing runners for Mayor and Trustees in the next election.
Thank you - LRS

You're right, hearing a train horn blowing and hitting potholes on the way to a fire once a year has got to be devastating to these Superheros that probably make near enuff to $100,000.00 a year with 24 on and 48 off.. I have tears welling up in my eyes as I type this note. I have to stop typing its so overwhelming.

The only people making $100.000.00 a year are the fire chief ivonelli and his three battalion chiefs . All appointed by the mayor . Like all department heads appointed by this mayor they all make six figures. You would have thought the mayor would at the least let the taxpayers know he was closing a station instead of doing it. As far as River grove or Schiller park protecting franklin park this is not what I pay $ 9000 a year property taxes for. Also don't they have their own town to protect. I live in the area affected underpass or not the tracks threw this town would still be a safety issue for all of us
