Having been a life long resident of Keeseville I must say I have been through at least 5 mayors or so.
Have seen a town with Twa's, a 5 and dime store, pizza shops, parades, sledding for the children and a town with tourism and booming business's.
I am personally for the dissolution of the Village as I feel Keeseville will not go anywhere.
With or without a Mayor or Village board this town will continue to change with the people, the economy and the ambition of the people to make something of and in the town.
As far as I can tell the only thing any of the Mayor's and Village board have ever done is have a failed security team. An old high school sitting as a liability for this Village and secret efforts to start perhaps a not-for-profit that appears to be hush hush, some street signs added, Christmas lights that were paid for by business's and people with no great cost to the village, streets plowed when it snows, garbage pick up for convenience of the people which is a paid for and not a free service which can easily be done by a local garbage service.
From my understanding the garbage pick up is not profitable and breaks even and only a convenience. If free, I could understand.
Many sidewalks not maintained, though installed by the village and not made to be cleaned up by the homeowner's or business's around the Village other than some parts. All the sidewalks should be cleaned, maintained, fixed of uneven cracks.
Dilapidated business's, residence's fall of blind eyes.
Village workers seen at the oddest times at the local stores smoking cigs, buying lottery tickets or at the banks cashing checks. At the oddest times.
Others riding around.
The water was in violation for many years up until one of the only smart Village employees, Karen, who helped to fix this problem.
I think she lost her job at one point and had the guts to fight to get it back rather than a mayor who thought was God.
Village board members that were never even there and getting paid over the years.
The list goes on and on and on.
Too much government.
The current Town Tax bills had a Village line.
Does it boil down on what will be saved or lost?
It is like a union, do not let the Village pursuay you either way. They should be neutral.
Sit back, take a look at what you get for your taxes.
If I am wrong about any of this let me know.
I encourage you to make your own educated decision.
In my humble experience, I have not seen in my lifelong residence of this area anything substantial ever accomplished or the ambition to bring this Village in the future.
Look at neighboring towns and compare, they survive. They prosper, why can't Keeseville?

What are we to refer to Keeseville as once it has been dissolved? Will our mail be confused with ausable forks or Chestertown?
#3 Jan 7, 2013
It will still be a Keeseville adress. It will still be called Keeseville.Just like Ausable Forks has the town of Jay and the town of Black Brook. The mail still says Ausable Forks. The mail is designated by the post office it originates from. There are some residents in the town of Ausable and Chesterfield that have Peru adresses.Hope this helps and if that is your only concern then disolve the Village.

Good question. Good Answer. We are eached assigned a 911 address which in my case says Keeseville whether on the Clinton County Or Essex County side. When mail is delivered it is delivered to that Keeseville address whether on Essex County or Clinton County side. The answer is, your address will stay the same. The postman / postwoman will still deliver the same mail. You location the same. Nothing changes.
You will be
123 Keeseville, New York
CURRENTY Village of Keeseville
LATER if dissolved
Town of Ausable or Town of Chesterfield
depending on your location.
Currently you are already in the Town of Ausable or the Town of Chesterfield AS WELL AS the Village of Keeseville. What goes is the Village of Keeseville line item.
We would no longer live in the Village of Keeseville but rather the Town of Ausable or the Town of Chesterfield WHICH WE ARE ALREADY IN ANYHOW.
It would boil down to the elimination of a Village of Keeseville tax.
Now this is where the educated vote will come into play. Will we save money. Will it be worth it to dissolve.
I feel we have not gotten our money's worth or bang for our buck with the Village of Keeseville. Too much government.
My final say would be consolidation of services which in this day in age would be an asset.
If we could only get rid of the State or Federal government and consolidate there as well.
This is my thoughts and opinions only.
