If you are moving to Kingman you will need to get used to white trailer trash with barking dogs, rednecks with jacked up trucks, noisy junk cars, Sanford & Son looking properties and be ready for the biggest attractions in Kingman - Walmart and the swap meet.

If you're talking about the indoor swap meet on Airway, it's closed for good. The people who rented spaces there got 4 days notice to move there stuff out. They are pissed!

rednecks? now that hurts, not that you call us rednecks, but you used it in a mean way. and trailer trash? you must be living in a new home with a big fence around it. keep your gate closed, and fire up your security.

If you dont mind the heat because Kingman is about 10 degrees cooler, move to Havasu there is a lot more to do a better city and they actually get things built. Oh and not as many trailers or drugs.

I've been to both Kingman and Georgia and there's no comparison. If your looking for trailer trash and drugies check out Atlanta and surrounding suburbs HOLY COWBURGERS! Kingmans great and yeah sure you got the untidy neighborhoods along with pristine ones just like any other city in the world but overall Kingman is great and yes it's milder in summer verses sister cities such as Havasu so Kingman I think is the place to live and a short scenic ride right up the road leads you to Lake Havasu for some fun in the sun. Kingman gives you the best of both worlds.

Wow, what an editorial for Kingman. Kingman is not great. The only thing better in Kingman is the summer Weather and the softball leagues are run better. Havasu is a better place to live over all. The parks, the lake, the people, the shopping, the restaurants and just stuff to do in general. The overall living in Havasu is so much better in Havasu and if Havasu didnt have to pay for over 50 percent of the cost of the county it would be even better. Live in Kingman if you want but live in both places and decide for your self.

I agree, Kingman is like the skid row of Arizona, I have never seen a place that hires more people by who they know as apposed to what they know. The funniest jokes here are the county and city offices, they don't work by the hour, they work by the week.

My husband and I were looking at Kingman as a place to move to from Missouri. My husband works at the Nucor in Ar. and thought about transfering to the Nucor in Kingman. I've looked at all the Kingman sites on the computer, but thought topix would give me a really ideal of how Kingman really was. I was very surprised on how well Kingman topix site was not a trash talking site like it is here airing everyone dirting laundry.

well AMY im not like the local kingman whiners. I came from el cajon,ca. which is in san diego county. Sure Kingman is not the best city in the u.s.a . but i tell ya there's alot of good in kingman. People are very friendly, I see people go out of there way to help others. Ive lived here since 92. it's a slow growth town.with lot's of room for inprovement.true as said above it's not what you know but who you know in kingman to succeed. housing cheap. the charter school is better than the public school.there's lot to go do and see for free.these whiner's above i dont think have ever been outside of mohave county. So i dont think there view's can count.

I understand that all place have there trouble with drugs, but Missouri had 20% of all meth incidents in U.S. in 2008 and just last month we had a high school math teacher arrested for cooking meth in her home!
The cost of living in Caruthersville index in 2008 was 77.5 (low, U.S. averages is 100). In 2006 our town was hit by a F3 tornado that took out 60% of Caruthersville and our high school, and for 3 years our children have been attending school in trailors. Then again last Jan. we were another national diaster with an ice storm. No elec. for about 10 days and no water for 3-4 of those days. So any where has got to be better than here! Kingman seemed to be a nice and WARM place.

Good morning runners wrote:
Who really wants the Boilergasm to succeed? It's not really a valid identity for Utica. Sort of like Cooperstown claiming a hall of fame in a town that didn't really show up on any baseball maps if some people are correct. Or Cleveland claiming some hallowed Rock & Roll ground. Everyone knows it's just a gimmick for hubbub and touri$m.
The race used to be sort of like a Utica block party but unfortunately it grew and became what is one of the first of the now tried and true "non-profit for welfare" models we have that are relatively unique to this area. Year after year it got bigger and bigger and so did it's sponsorship and budget until it became almost a full time job for a few lucky souls. There they were.... talking up their great race with entheusiasm only a few hard-core runners or Executive Directors could summon. There they were, cutting people off in GM sponsored cars until GM got wind of it. If they beat on Lynn Mishlyne for growing Utica Monday Night into a personal scam... she has got NOTHING on the boilermaker family.
On and on until the Boilermaker became front page news starting in May every year.
"Boilergasm cones ordered!"
"Breaking news: Boilergasm line painted!!"
"Boilergasm "goody-bags" packed!!"
90% of this city doesn't care to get off a couch but has to act out this halloween routine so someone can sell some candy. It coldn't even manage "corporate sell-out" status it's just a boring sell-out that hasn't amounted to any great cultural gift to the city at large, just a very very small few. So yeah people are sick of seeing the Parkway decked with flowers while every off-street looks like the moon. People can discern disingnuity whether they realise it cociously or not.
Somewhere along the line they seemed to aspire to something Utica can't support and in doing so alienated the more discerning people in Utica. I liken it to a quantity over quality argument, something Utica has a serious problem with to begin with. Probably the greatest crippler in the mix is the involvement of the Reeds. Founder or not he really stepped on just too many toes and floated too many crooked deals and lies to entertain any credibility anymore. Having the Reed name attached to the thing makes it even more "Utica-Pathetic" knowing his ilk are the biggest hampsters dangling from the teat on this thing. To more than a few the "bed races", the corny yelling contests and all the trouble and wasted resources accompanied by a 3 month build-up and "in-your-face" you'll like it or you're not a true ootican attitude got old and a sort of transparent excuse to promote that Saranac piss and keep Reed and family's tit giving milk. Wow who can forget the fact that the boilermaker is right up there next to Annette Funnicello when some rabid pro-ootica simpleton says: "Well ya know... Utica is the birthplace of Annette Funnicello, and the LARGEST 15K ROADRACE IN THE UNIVERSE AAANNNNDDD!!! HOME OF COLD CHEESELESS PIZZA, I MEAN "Tomato Pie"!!!! Like we're supposed to jump 6 feet & scissor-kick when we hear the fabulous news!
Talk about scraping the bottom of the PR barrel! Can you say: "A little FORCED"?
I know I am not alone when I give the boilergasm the big thumbs down.
I never noticed you are right! It DID USED TO BE A GREAT LOCAL PARTY now it's as big as they can get it another excuse to sell beer Reed and newspapers that's all! Never thought till just now Reed and Matt always acted like they wanted ten million to come no matter what inconvenience the rest of utica had to eat. "Quantity over quality" %100 true we used to celebrate locals like a hometown party now it's all impersonal and stupid watchin some kenyans win year after year so me and my family stopped like 4 years ago it used to be for UTICA now it is for *someone else* and lost what it once was.

AMY Kingman or as some of us call it K-Town is just like any other small town America. It's all in what you make it. There are some very nice people here and some very affordable houses. We don't have huge malls and tons of traffic. We are not far from that if you get bored you can go to Vegas and scream at people who don't know how to drive. If your used to culture ie: museums baseball games or other events you'll settle for little league and the Bonelli house (the oldest house in k-town) or drive. Its all in what you want for a life style.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Sagittarius

After all the excitement of the past few days you're longing for the chance to put your feet up and take life easy for a while. Ideally, you should bury your nose in a good book and be left alone until you resurface for a food transfusion. But you'll also enjoy chatting to someone you know very well and for whom you don't have to make a big effort, such as a close relative.
