I was wondering about this. I looked at ky3.com and noticed some were already closing for tomorrow. I know it may sound stupid. Also, on the school district page it says that since we used a snow day we will be making that day up next Monday. If we are out tomorrow that will mean that we will have school on next Tuesday as well. Hope you all stay warm.

A lot of the area schools are closed today, why not Willow? This really aggravates me, that the school system is more so worried about falling behind then the safety of the students. What is this going to be another day where the kids only go half a day? That was a major issue with some parents because, people have to work, and then all of a sudden they hear about school letting out. People please start using your brain. As far as making up school days next week, that is really stupid as well. My family has had plans for quite a while and now we have to change that around. Sounds to me that Willow schools need to be a little more organized.

I have seen conditions way worse than they have been this week and we would go to school. The problem with things nowadays is the school can't make a decision without offending someone or wind up in a lawsuit because they made the wrong decision. If a kid gets sent to school and something happens the school gets sued over it or the papers have some writing material, of is school is cancelled and the kids roam the streets (which they do a lot) on foot and get in trouble with the law the parents complain because there was no school.
I also think going to school next week is a joke if it was already scheduled to be off, but its a no win situation. I'd rather suck it up and go next week instead of June like the kids did this year. But if next week's forecast holds true they will see you in January.

These schools need to just get organized. I'm tired of this crap. Yesterday, I had to hear it from my boss because I had to leave to go home so that I can be with my kids. And now days jobs are hard to come by. I think I'm going to keep my plans with my family for next week. We are traveling and we already had plans before all this bad weather stuff started happening. We have family we haven't seen in years going to be at our family Christmas, and we are not going to miss out on that, just because this school system can't get it together. Kids are going to be kids, if they are out playing when school is canceled and get hurt, that is on the parents. But I would so much rather my children to stay home rather than take the chance of getting hurt on the bus, due to black ice or even get hit by a car. I just wish people would really use their brains a little more.

The school is damned if they do, and damned if they don't. There's no pleasing everyone.

Tell the kids to enjoy their snow days! We had 5 inches of snow and a little ice here last week but never missed a lick of school. They rarely cancel school. They have snow routes and expect the kids to get to the bus or school the best they can. I don't think they count it against the ones who live miles out in the country though. The morning it was snowing, my son was cleaning off the windshield for me (wind blowing about 45mph) and reminded me that if we were still in WS "this would be a snow day and we could still be in bed!"

I never really minded it if the kids had to go to school later in the spring because of snow days missed. They were always "bored" after school was out for a week anyway.

The school is fine;.Why don't you just call'em instead of talking about them. We have a great school.

The school is getting an automated system to call all the parents when things happen, I think this is great. I only wish they had got this thing sooner, but it is better late than never right =]

That would be nice considering I sleep during the day and my boy stood outside for an hour this morning. Mtn. View canceled at 7 am. Hell, thats when my boy gets on the bus. I called them just a few minutes ago and gave em hell. But, I will admit, that even though the blacktop roads were clear, the dirt roads were very, very slick. But to wait until children are already waiting for the bus to cancel just sucks.

I have rode on the school bus only to be cancelled enroute to school (in the mid 80's).
The schools automated system called a few student's phones the other day and let them know to go home. Problem is the students aren't allowed to carry cell phones with them during school hours, they are supposed to be in their vehicles. Not criticizing the system, it just needs fine tuned, lol.

Hahaha! Why is someone that lives in Ohio concerned with what happens in Willow Springs schools? Our school system is actually a good one. I can't complain, and I like the new phone system that they use to allow parents to know about if school is canceled or not. And I do hope that this year more people will get involved in the kids school, and even donate their time as a volunteer or donate to the school. Or even the town.
