Rendell has a plan. He is going to get DeNaples to open a high end casino/tuck sales business. Air Poducts will supply the flood damaged trucks and DeNaples will pull some strings in Harrisburg to come up with clean titles to them. When Hillary loses her bid for president Fast Eddie will make her manager of the truck sales division with DeNaples running the casino. The Governer was quoted as saying all residents who vote for this idea will recieve property tax relief payments. The country western song for the trucking division will be...

Clinton's a trucking driving high roller maam.

She's a big Fast Eddie fan.

When Bill is not around getting laid in big rig is her plan.

lets make it a SLOT MACHINE CASINO year round and have the homeland security emergency evacuation place at the same place. make the profit to go to fix the pot holes and streets. it will be double use for the land and our roads will be drivable without tolls, and the seniors will already be there if there is an emergency
What a GREAT idea! But you'll have to include a 10% GTR (governor's trough revenue) that will provide our legislators the same "income" that they received from the owners, lobbyists, and friends of the other gaming facilities.

I agree the BRAC was not political but how a base gets put on the hit list is.If you have a Senator and strong local goverment you fight early on to keep your base safe.A good example is NJ Senator Jim Saxton he helped get McGuire AFB new missions etc after that base got on a previous BRAC list.
Willow Grove had Rick Santorum throw it under the bus and local Gov. that put on a good face but deep down did not want the base saved. What will happen now ,wait and see but Horsham needs to work with the state and put politics aside. We never got to hear what Horsham's plan was,I would guess,Toll Brother homes ,stores whatever. That would not have a burden on traffic,water/sewer and schools etc.

I heard Horsham hired a lawyer last year to try and block Section 3703 of the "US Troop Readiness Veteran's Care,Katrina Recovery and Iraq Accountability Appropriations Act"of 2007(the part about Willow Grove turning over the base to the Air Force then leasing it to the Commonwealth of PA.)Something like $403.00 per hour.Hopefully Council will stop the madness and work with the State and be bipartisan.Remember it's the tax payers money.Again I heard this ,not sure if its true.Maybe there was a referendum?

Folks need to realize that the greatest negative impact to the community will take place if Rendell gets his way. The reason...he wants to develop the property while keeping the runway intact. This prevents necessary changes to the road infrastructure to accommodate the increase in traffic.

The state should give up their hostile take-over efforts and allow the local communities to define their own best use for the base.

How about a monument to Rendell for all of his accomplishments like lowering property taxes?
