Who do you support for Sheriff, Coroner in California (Trinity County) in 2010?

Bruce seems like the right choice because Sheriff Craig do,es not support him .That tells me that bruce is not part of this inept sheriff,s department that has turned its back on so many in commuities like Trinity pines .Just look at the fire in whispering pines .And how it took days for him to send out a simple inaccurate news release .And his statements that marijuana was not involved .Only to find out latter that there was a active grow on site .And now we find out that there may be multiple ignition sites in the home .Oh there may be little proof .But that do,es not == a crime free outcome .

Haney used his church record. I feer that he is too pure for us. I haven't been to church in years, most of the members were phonies.

Bruce has great ideas that would make it possible for our underfunded sheriff's department to function effectively.

And he hasn't gone around town intimidating any person who dares put his opponents signs in their windows.

As for the comment about his "church record." I've only heard the Cox campaign slam his church record. I've NEVER seen him bring it up. But if I hear Dave Cox refer to himself as a "good Christian man who's never shot a pig from a helicopter" one more time I might be ill.

I noticed that Cox is trying to win the Sheriff election to legitimize his self-worth. If he loses, he would undoubtedly look at that loss as a negative mark on his character. Haney, on the other hand, does not appear to be driven in this race to fulfill any lifelong ambition to be Sheriff. A loss for Haney would not devastate him the way it would Cox. I believe Haney is running to help Trinity County, not fulfill a idealized career path.

My vote is for Haney, as his opponent is a divider; those with 20 years in Trinity and the rest of us. We are heading for rough times and need all hands on board! Experience from the big city is not to be feared, but embraced and woven into the fabric that is trinity, That WILL make us stronger and better able to ride the rough storm ahead.
My gut tells me there are many like me, with less time in Trinity than Mr.Haney, when you claim Haney is not a true local, you are slamming many folks who love trinity county and are ready to work on a team who welcomes their skills, work ethic and love for community.

Bruce is the status quo. If you look at the recent support letters in the local paper most of his support comes from officers that are not interested in working nights and weekend.

I think its shameful that Haney's supporters are emphasizing his lack of education as an asset. Great, we're stupid and we like it that way.

Welcome to rural California. We are poor and celebrate ignorance.

Meanwhile that poverty and lack of education are allowing natural resources and environmental damage to take place through illegal marijuana water diversions, etc.

At least Mr. Cox realizes the reality of the situation and has presented a plan. Mr. Haney has been quietly moving along hoping that no one pulls back the curtain.

Bruce is the only one of good character to lead the Sheriff's Dept. Dave Cox wants the power, Bruce Haney wants to make it better for all of us.

As I understood the Haney supporters (though I am only an undergrad), their point was that education is critical and can be obtained in various lifen exp. The TRUE ignorance is assuming that education alone equals a superior individual. The forum I attended in the spring gave evidence to Mr. Haney presenting ideas for our future which Mr Cox scoffed: but now Mr Cox is bellowing those same ideas as his.

Bruce has taken the right road by not making empty promises, as his opponent has. I believe Cox is all for the glory and not for the job.

Bruce is not a puffed up strutting stop sign sporting crossing guard but a real live law enforcement professional. His experience is current not in the past. His education is in Law enforcement not teaching varsity football. Bruce will treat you fairly and respectfully. He is the right man for Trinity County Sheriff!
