O my God!
O Thou forgiver of sins,
bestower of gifts,
dispeller of afflictions!

Verily, I beseech thee
to forgive the sins of such
as have abandoned the physical garment
and have ascended to the spiritual world.

O my Lord!
Purify them from trespasses,
dispel their sorrows,
and change their darkness into light.
Cause them to enter the garden of happiness,
cleanse them with the most pure water,
and grant them to behold Thy splendors
on the loftiest mount.

The dog did survive, not because he got out on his own, but because Chris was able to wade out enough to get him. It was the momentum of pushing the dog towards shore that pushed Chris backwards enough that the current took him and pulled him under. He did not come back up. He was such a wonderful, great guy. We miss him greatly

Dear "Comment"- Not only are you a rude, unfeeling, idiot--you can't read. He did not "jump" into the river. I explained what happened very clearly in my prior post. I was there where it happened as they looked for his body. I am constant worrier about the water and even I had no ideal that the river was that dangerous. It was smooth and appeared calm on the surface. His feet still touched bottom where he rescued his children's pet as they stood sobbing on the shore. Pushing the little dog ahead of him pushed his body back and caused him to lose his footing. He was a kind, gentle, caring person who NEVER said and unkind word about anyone.

If doesn't take much courage to stand behind an anonymous name and bad mouth a dead man with no regard to his grieving loved ones who may read your comments. We would be more than happy to discuss this with you in person.

The world would be a better place with more people like Chris and less like you.

Thank you. He was a good man. Most people are kind and caring. Those few who are not are really of no matter. It is our hope that people will learn how truly dangerous this river is. A couple of days later other people were swimming at this same location. The river really gave no hint how deadly it was there. It pulled him straight down and that was that. No second chances. They thought they were taking all necessary precautions. I don't know if you can take enough precautions to be safe in that river. It is our prayer that no one else ever has to go through this again.

I'm sixty years old and I grew up here along this river. Until summer tames and warms these waters, they are extremely dangerous. Every year, people are drawn to its beauty and lost in its cold currents. Our hearts go out to your family, wishing we could share the burden of your loss. Your son is with the Creator now but he will always live in the loving heart of his family and he will always be remembered in the valley of the Trinity. God bless you.
